I just started using squarebills this year. I throw them on a 6'6" MF Diawa Exceler with 12# mono and a Lews 6.4. The Exceler tip is slower than most "fast" actions. At this point I only have KVD 1.5s.

In NE Indiana we don't have the Shad population that other states have so my primary colors are Perch or Gill.

What conditions would everyone use a Neon Bluegill or a Sexy Sunfish color over the standard Bluegill or Perch?

The neon bluegill is a pretty solid choice for clear water but in my stained/dark lake they work pretty well too.

The sexy shad color is also a good all around choice but I've had good results using it in a stained/dark lake

I broke my last neon bluegill silent crank today :( gonna have to go buy a couple more of those.

Edit: sorry just noticed you were talking about sexy sunfish and not sexy shad, I've never used it but it looks like a good color

Anybody use flouro for your squarebills?

Man I don't see how anybody can make the switch from braid to flouro... I spooled on some to try it out again but every time I end up not liking it, the first thing you notice is the loss of sensitivty and the second thing is line management and castability... I hate having it be perfectly straight in the beginning of the day and it looking like a phone cord after the trips over, if you don't have KVD line and lure you are screwed...

I'm gonna keep it on for at least 10 more trips to see if I warm up to it but every time I try to like flouro I go back to braid.

I can tell you first hand you will hate flurocarbon until you use a quality flurocarbon. I didnt like it for a while until i tried Sunline Super FC Sniper once i tried I put it on every setup I had except topwater and punching. The great things about this line include low diameter, strength, abrasion resistance, sensitivity, and low memory. I have had this stuff on now since the beginning of the season and still havent had an issue with memory on any set up granted I do use KVD Line and Lure. But if you are having an issue with memory i read an article somewhere where people pull out their line until they get to the last 20-30 yards and then tie it to their trailer and grab their rod and start walking back stretching their line to reduce the memory. I havent done this so I cant comment if it works or even if it is good for your line but its an option

I'm using the normal sunline super FC at the moment not the sniper, but I've used the different kinds of seguar too.

Thanks for the tips

I don't know if it can beat 20-30lb power pro! I love cranking with braid... Abrasion resistance is the only thing I like about fluoro over braid, I'm still gonna try it though

Any condition other than muddy water. Sexy Sunfish is my favorite color, by far!
