Needed a new jig and worm rod so I hopped in the truck and went to my bass pro. Of course I had many choices but I had a range of $100 to spend.

I picked up a duckett white ice 7' 3 heavy and picked up a shimano compre 7'3 worm and jig rod I was thinking the reel I'm gonna put on it has braid on there currently and was gonna leader up some fluro so my choice was the compre. I currently have 2 Duckett's and a couple *** blacks. I like to mix it up try different things so now I'm sitting here second guessing myself with not going with the duckett. Need some opinions to sway me to keep my compre was this a good choice?

I guess it's a white ice duckett vs Shimano Compre debate with me.

May be off topic, but Shimano Crucial's are only $120 on Tackle Warehouse now

I assume you were looking at a Duckett Ghost for $100? The white ice is $200. The Duckett is a good rod but if using braid and a leader with micro guides its tough.

Snag a crucial off TW. I just got another jig/worm rod for $124 and change and that included 2 day shipping. Great rods especially at that price.

Could you please tell me where you found the White Ice for $100? I would be there in the morning. I'm also thinking you meant Duckett Ghost rod's. If you meant the White Ice, then you made a very, very bad choice, that Shimano is nothing upside the Duckett White Ice but if you meant the Ghost rod then yes, I say you will be fine with your choice.

You should be fine, the Shimano rods are good rods. The Ghost is also a very good rod but while I am a big time Duckett fan I will admit I do not like the line guides on the Duckett Ghost Rod's. I think you will be happy with your choice, it is the perfect length imo for worm fishing and it is also a nice fishing rod.

The Crucials don't feel like "nothing". Especially for $119. VERY nice rods, though I've never fished a Duckett to compare it with. The Crucial does come with a lifetime in store warranty as well.

Confused by your post TN so you're telling me I'm ok with what I got and the crucials don't feel like nothing.. Sorry it was just confusing that's all

You are miss understanding what I said. They are very nice rod's, no doubt about it but you really don't want to compare them to a White Ice rod. That wouldn't be fair to the Crucial, it is a night and day difference there. Now when you go Ghost VS Crucial, it is a fair compairison.

OP, It is always fun to buy and try different things. I think you made the right choice and I also think you will enjoy that fishing rod.

I typed my reply above before I saw post #9. The White ICE is a bit more expensive so you may be right about it being in a different class. At full retail, it's about $40 more. I have no experience with the Duckett rods. I do know that there have been more than a few reports about those rods breaking but I don't know which model it was. But who knows what torture people put their gear through? It did sway me away from a micro magic though.

Thanks didn't mean to get into a great debate after watching MLF today and while Duckett was advertising he had me second guessing lol I think I'll keep it and if I don't like it I'll sell or trade it..

I don't have any experience with Duckett rods, but I know that for the $ you can't go wrong with a Crucial. With fluorocarbon and tungsten weights they are ridiculously sensitive, though I'm much more of a cranker and their cranking rods are awesome. My interest is piqued about the Ducketts now though, especially the Ghost now that I hear they are on par with the Crucials at a bit cheaper price. SenkoGuru has experience with both rods, so I'd go with his opinion and stick your Duckett.
