Siebert Outdoors Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 If you make your own lures or rods lets post some pics. Here are a few of my latest Quote
Lunkers0 Posted February 5, 2006 Posted February 5, 2006 Nice job guys. Last summer I made my own jigs (no pic yet though). I want to try my own crankbaits this year. It looks like a lot of fun. Quote
WCCT Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 SenkoSam, this is a custom goby I had Bob machine for me. It has unbelievable action. Quote
SENKOSAM Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Figured it wasn't an LC mold - to professional looking. I wish Poor Boys all the luck with their takeover of Lurecraft, but I'd still rather make molds from plaster or resin than waste money on silicone. Again, real nice laminates! Gloomis and WCCT - you got some mighty nice lookin jigs! The watermelon trailer looks familiar. Quote
basspro48 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Here's a few jigs and spinnerbaits I made, I'm still working on painting that jerkbait. Quote
SENKOSAM Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 I saw the diamond pattern blades at Gander Mountain. You like them better than hammered nickel? Nice sb's BTW. Here are some other winter creations. http://morecabinfevercreations.blogspot.com/ http://2005effectivehybrids.blogspot.com/ http://senkosamsothercreations.blogspot.com/ http://senkosam.blogspot.com/ http://zipperworm.blogspot.com/ Quote
basspro48 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 I saw the diamond pattern blades at Gander Mountain. You like them better than hammered nickel? It doesn't really matter to me, but if I'm looking for more flash I'll use the stamped or diamond pattern blades. Quote
basser89 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 basspro, How big is the white spinnerbait???? Can you give me some details on it? The reason I'm asking is it looks alot like the old Ledgebuster spinnerbaits and I only have 3-4 left. I'd like to make some since, as far as I know, Ledgebuster is no longer manufactured. Quote
basspro48 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 The white one is a 3/8oz. model made with a white stamina inc. eagle eye spinnerbait head. I'm not sure what the wire diameter is since I made it a couple months ago. The skirt is silicone white/shad scale pattern with a few strands of silver flash material tied in. I'm not sure about the size of the blades either since I just kinda found'em lying around, but they are both silver and the willow is a diamond pattern blade. And I think the ledgebuster spinnerbait you are talking about might still be in production, check out this link and see. http://www.another site.com/tacklestore/search.cfm Quote
basspro48 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Sorry, the link doesn't work. Well, just got to www.another site.com and click on the icon that says "online tackle store" and go to the search box and type "ledgebuster". They have a bunch of models listed. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 You guys make some cool lures. I would like to get into the plastic making too, but right now I have enough hobbies to keep me more then busy. Quote
SENKOSAM Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Like jig making, once you get hooked, YOUR HOOKED! Try the flame and scissors trick to simply make a worm shorter: cut a piece out, hold both ends over the flame until they turn a little molten and then hold the ends together for 6 seconds. You can roll the area over the flame to reduce excess drips near the seam and to strengthen it. You've just worked with plastisol and created something new and maybe improved a lure by just making it unique. I melt old plastic down all the time in the microwave for handpouring, but most of my tinkering are lure modifications done over the stove or candle flame. Please try it and don't wait 20 years like I did to see how useful it is. Quote
BD Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Man seeing you guys make this stuff really upsets me lol. I have a terminal tackle INVENTION, and can't get anyone of the lure manufacturers to email me back. It's so genius in it's simplicity and it's something I can 110% guarantee we would all use them!!! BD Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Wow, now those look great! Honestly I am 190% positive we would all use them for every type bait you can think of, we ALREADY use them for every plastic. It's a modification. I really need to talk to someone who can MAKE things, that also understands N.D.A. contracts. Quote
BD Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 If any tackle companies read this forum, or anyone knows people IN these companies feel free to email me. I am being dead serious with this too, I really need someone to hear me, so we can all benefit. mighty_hero(at)cox.net Please include relevant subject line, because I check my spam folder too. Quote
