WVbassin87 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I really wanna try JJ's, but my next trip too close to order it. so i picked up a jar of Chatreuse Garlic Spike It. anybody used it? like it? Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 19, 2014 Super User Posted June 19, 2014 It's definitely not as potent as JJ's but it works fine for dyeing plastics. Quote
TNBassin' Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Works ok, but do a quick dip and that's it. Seems to eat some plastics if you use too much. I ruined a couple Papi Craws that way. Quote
PersicoTrotaVA Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I like it. if you bought the dip, get some q tips and apply with the q tips. It lasts longer and you don't melt the plastic. Quick dips for tails. I have the fire red, blue and chartreuse. Mixing them makes for some interesting color combos. Quote
Fish Murderer 71 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I have it and JJ's... I use the JJ's for my Jigs cause the bottle is big enough to dip the whole jig- The only thing I don't like about JJ's is the glass bottle... It's nice, but I always worry about it exploding in my tackle box. I like the Q-tip idea. now i can "paint" my flukes just the way I want to. Quote
slimshad Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I use the marker. It seems to last longer and it isnt messy. 1 Quote
5fishlimit Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I use the marker. It seems to last longer and it isnt messy. I do this too. It's also easier to transport in a tackle bag. I can carry 4 to 5 colored markers in the space of 1 jar. Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 19, 2014 Super User Posted June 19, 2014 Used to use Spike It until I tried JJ's. I found JJ's lasts much longer and is much more potent. Maybe Spike It has gotten better, not sure, but when I used it a while back, it lasted maybe a day. Plus the bottle dried up. Switched to JJ's and haven't looked back.Found an old swimbait that I dyed the tail Chartreuse on with JJ's at the bottom of my rod rocker. Still holding it's color and even a bit of the smell remains. Must be 5 years old. Quote

Sure, I use it to dye white baits when walleye fishing. It works okay on darker bass lures, but its not as strong as JJs. The upside is that the jars are leak proof and won't explode like JJs. I've caught a lot of fish using it. Quote
Getfit74 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I use the marker. It seems to last longer and it isnt messy. I really like the markers also, easy to carry along with you and not messy at all. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted June 19, 2014 Super User Posted June 19, 2014 Markers for me. My plastics don't last long enough for me to care if the dye lasts a long time. No idea if the scent works or not. I use megastrike if I want scent. Quote
