plural_of_fant Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Anyone have suggestions on a brand of hollow body frogs that skip well? Or any mods to improve skipping? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 19, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 19, 2014 I can skip a Spro Bronzeye a long ways with braid and casting gear. Quote
river-rat Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 how do you avoid backlashes when skipping? Lots of practice Quote
David D. Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I can skip the Spro Bronzeyes and SK KVD Sexy Frogs pretty well. Booyah Pad Crashers have a much less firm skin that doesn't lend itself to skipping as well. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted June 19, 2014 Super User Posted June 19, 2014 It just takes hours of practice to learn skipping and minimize backlashes. I'm just getting into it and it's NOT easy. KEEP AT IT! Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 19, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 19, 2014 Ive had the best luck with a Koppers. They're not as soft as a Scum frog which helps, but softer than a Spro which helps hook up's. Mike Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 19, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 19, 2014 how do you avoid backlashes when skipping? A low, side arm cast, in a slow fluid motion will get you there. And yes a lot of practice! What helped me the most was getting as close to the water as I could. On a boat try kneeling on the deck. From shore try to stand in a depression if there is one, if not take a step in the water if you could or kneedown on the shore. The best skipper I know is a friend who fishes out of a canoe. It's one of the reasons (besides price) that I stopped using them. Quote

It's one of the reasons (besides price) that I stopped using them. The price certainly keeps me from owning more of them as well as the SKs. At $8-$10 each they are 1.5-2 times more expensive than the Booyahs. And since I don't have to skip much and have a better hookup percentage with the Booyahs, they are what I typically find on the end of my line. Quote
