Finally caught my first bass on a topwater frog.  I ordered some Zoom horny toads in black a while back in the early spring, I was out at one of my regular spots that is shallow with lily pads and before I was about to head home, it was about 6pm with overcast skies so I decided to rig up a frog and see how they worked.  It took me a few casts while walking around the bank and finally I seen the fish come up and inhale my frog as it was passing by, with its legs spitting water.  I got the fish in with a smile.  It was just a 1 pound fish but seeing the fish hit was all that mattered to me haha.  I tried for another 30 minutes and got another hit that felt better right as I started reeling it back but I didn't hook her lol.

I figured I'd just share my experience today, this was one of my goals for this season and I know a lot of people struggle with new baits at first, let me tell you, catching fish with a new technique can be done! and its awesome when you finally accomplish it!

Awesome! Frogs are the best.

I was fishing with a friend and a solid body frog is a great lure for a beginner because all they have to do is cast and reel in. I was explaining to her how you you be ready for a fish to pounce on your bait as it comes off of a lily pad. I showed her by casting about 20 feet and reeled my frog toward the boat. As we were watching it a bass came out from under the edge lily pad and smashed the Ragetail Toad from about 3 feet away from the boat. It was awesome and really funny that I was just talking about it and then it happened.

It was also one of the only times I've been close enough to see a fish actually come out from under a lily pad to hit a lure. It was really cool.

It's the best. I just got started frogging recently also and now I don't want to throw anything else. Now try a hollow body

I went back today and nailed 3 more on the frog and missed another 2... after throwing a t-rig and senko and only catching one fish for like 2 hours, I switched to a frog and was surprised they were hitting it so well. Kinda embarrassed though because I use them on a spinning rod :embarassed2:
