Call Gary Dobyns and ask him. I would suggest a 734.

734c champion. Gary will likely recommend the same rod.

734c.  I have one and I used it last year for a swim jig rod.  After thinking it was a just a tad overkill for 1/4 oz "Wisconsin Style" swim jig, I started using it for 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs around docks.

For the past month or so, it has had a 3/8 oz pegged flipping tungsten weight and a 5/0 Trokar flipping hook for pitching purposes.

Needless to say, its the cat's meow.

You are wrong; 4 power = jig/worm rod. Keep in mind there isn't ANY standards with rod power ratings. If I say power ratings are 2 = medium light, 3= medium, 4 = medium heavy, 5 = heavy, does that make you feel better? No builder make their rods the same.

I use the Dx 744 for jigs 1/4 to 1/2oz, It is classified as a heavy power rod by Dobyns. You have to take into consideration the trailer weight when talking jigs. If you feel like you should get a 3 power, go for it. I'm sure it will be fine, but I, like the others on that have already commented on here that have experience with the rod, feel like the a 704/734 would be a better fit. The extra length is personal preference. I like the added length, but that's up to you.

Per TW's site, the 734 is listed as Hvy. Technically he wasn't wrong. If you would have left off the first sentence and the part about feeling better your post would be spot on.

P.S. .......There aren't ANY standards, not there isn't ANY standards. :)
