Need one cause I misplaced mine and Dicks was out of stock of them.  What can I use as one?

I can't believe I don't have any Sharpies in the house.

I went to Dicks thinking I was gonna buy 2 or 3 of them cause I just seen them all the other day and the rack was empty.  Kinda made me mad but I came out of there with some more plastics that are on sale.  Senkos for $6/bag.

Instead of O-rings, use small black cable ties.

Heat shrink 3/8" for senkos

Posted

Good day Gentlemen, new user here but thought I'd add my two cents to the topic.  About 10 years ago when Senkos came out, were pricey and since they're so soft and you could only catch between 1-4 fish total on them before they were destroyed, I searched for some type of idea to make it a better experience.  I have used the same one, although I have dozens in my box, of these.

Go to a pet store or some place which sells the clear air tubing, I think it's 3/8" round size.  Sorry, it's literally been 10 years and I've used the same one ring since then.  Once you've bought about 1' of it, take it home and cut it into small lengths approximately 1/4".  Now just slip that over your Senko, slip the hook between the two and you're ready to go.  Remember, BETWEEN the tubing and Senko.  The hook does not penetrate either of them, it simply sits between the two.

I've used the same 4", brown Senko and ring for the past 10 years.  Of course with the different size Senkos, larger and smaller, you'd simply need to get more tubing in those sizes.

I hope this helped.  This spring I was at Cabela's and one of the associates let it out of his mouth that there was a Wacky rigging tool and I almost fell over laughing as I hadn't heard of it yet.   I know, I must have been under a rock.  But I almost fell over and then he told me the price and I couldn't believe it either.

Well again, I hope this works gentlemen, save your money for other more important things like the gas to go fishing some more.

Ball point pen works well, the ones that screw together.

Prior to owning a rigging tool, I positioned the o-rings on the senko using my hands and maybe a little slobber.

The lower end of any ball point pen will work perfectly.

Used that long before I knew there was such a thing as a "wacky tool"

Go to office supply store and get a pack of these 4-color pens. Use the bottom half. A friend also uses the bottom of a highlighter, but I don't know what brand or size.

Optional: Add a SHORT screw to the end for a o-ring holder.

Perfect for wacky rigging 4" and 5" senkos. You will have to insert the thinner end into the tool and twist. It is a tight fit, but it will get very close to the center of the 5" senko.

Just put the ring on the skinny end and pull the senko through. Works perfectly well, but the tool is nice for keeping you o rings on, saves fumbling around for them in the bottom of a plano!

Thin highlighter, thick sharpie, anything like that will work. 3/8 heat shrink and clear vinyl tubing works good too.

A little spit on the pointy end and slide the ring up. Once it's off the tool you need to position the ring where you want it anyway. No tool needed IMO.
