Today I caught this 2.5 lb bass on a 1 1/2 inch 3/32 oz Rebel Crickhopper. It broke one of the hook points off the back treble hook on the lure. The hooks are size 14 treble hooks. I should have taken a photo of the fish while it still had the lure in it's mouth.

Anyone else have any big fish on small lures? Maybe a few small fish on large lures?

Yep had a similar size bass a month ago on a small lure like yers on my micro setup.. mine was a Strike King bitsy minnow but the hooks I think were to small and after it cleared the water, it eventually shook the lure off .. fun as hell whilst it lasted tho..

Once in a while the small stuff will get bit by a big boy

A few years ago I caught a near 7 off a sand flat.. Someone had thrown a fire ring in the water... I could see the shade of it.... I picked up a ultra lite spinning smallest shimano spinning reel w/ 4 pound test....threw a 1/8 roadrunner on and she ate it...... 10 mins later I landed her... I played that fish perfect.... Rod was a 5'6" Tom Mann rod.... They work!

I caught several bass between 2.5 and 4 pounds on 1/16 and 1/8 roadrunners this year.

I've also had tiny bass and bluegill aggressively hammer crankbaits that were nearly as large as the fish themselves.

Caught a 6.5 pounder on a 3" grub a couple years ago out of a pond. Best "big fish on a small bait" story for me was a 23lb flathead on a Yo-Zuri Killifish crankbait. I believe they're 1 3/8" long and probably 1/16oz at the heaviest. I was fishing a pond for crappie with an ultralight and 4lb test, no net, took almost an hour to finally land it.

Caught this 24" beast in March on a 2.5" rebel floater, an el-cheapo minnow style crank, got it on sale at walmart for $1.50, was throwing it on an ultralight with 6lb test, lots of fun!

Start a photobucket account, it's free. Upload to there and then resize it and upload to the site. That's what I do with all my pictures.
