jigabooyah Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 If fish a small lake at a park where there is always loud bass driven music playing. Loud enough that you can hear it on all sides of the lake. The lake shore is appx. 1.2 miles. I have noticed on days when the music is loud that it gets harder to catch fish. Is it possible that the fish are seeking shelter from the noise? Quote
flyingmonkie Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 If it's a commonality, I would expect the bass to become accustomed to it, just like they do with boat traffic, power plant noise, etc. I would only expect it to impact fishing if it's a rarity. It probably impacts you more... It sure would tick me off! 1 Quote

If the music that's playing is rap, there's a good chance that all the fish have killed themselves. I know I want to every time I hear that bs. 17 Quote

On certain days the have live fire pratice with M119A2 105mm Howiters, not can you hear it, it shakes the land scape. It doesn't appear to have an effect the bass! Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 16, 2014 Super User Posted June 16, 2014 I fish at banks lake which is next door to the moody air force base bombing range for A-10 THUNDERBOLTS doing their 40mm training and bombing practice every single day and they fly LOW over the lake and it almost makes your head explode how loud it is but the fish don't care.... TNBassin' Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I love the A10. I'd be too busy looking at them to fish. Quote
wareagle07 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 The A-10 Warthog is a pretty quiet plane. I'm glad we haven't got rid of them yet Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 17, 2014 Super User Posted June 17, 2014 Its pretty quiet compared to fighter jets but man they are still loud when they are flying just above tree tops.... At night you can go sit in the main lake channel and watch them shoot their 40mm cannons and it looks awesome Quote
wareagle07 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 We have a whole fleet of them at my base. I like how they whistle through the air. The b2 is another animal when it comes to loudness. Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 x2 basically the music is effecting you not the fish. wear headphones w/ ur own preferred music? Quote

FrogTosser88 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 When I was just a kid, about 30 years ago. I lived in the middle of nowhere southern California desert. I use to see those planes flying overhead every day. Of course I had no idea they were not in service at the time. Its amazing that they are still used today. Quote

Super User geo g Posted June 20, 2014 Super User Posted June 20, 2014 Not a chance! Maybe if you drop something on the bottom of the boat a sudden noise might spook a fish close bye but music or conversation not a chance. A sudden start of a trolling motor on highlight spook a fish. Unless you have a boom box in the boat with heavy bass, there is no problem. Quote

A LONG time ago (1982 to be exact), I watched them flying near tree top at, I think, Camp Atterbury in Indiana. I've never had the privilege of seeing/hearing them fire off live rounds, though. That WOULD be something! Maybe the fish stop to watch, too. Quote

FirstnameLastname Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'm not that far from Westover air force base. Anytime I fish the chicopee river the c5 galaxy cargo planes go right over head. The helicopters are constant, I mean all day everyday, but that doesn't bother me a bit. The f16s aren't bad either just the cargo planes. Quote
