Help Finding Fish Bank Fishing

Hey guys I've been bank fishing a good size lake/pond 3 days in a row now and I only have one 3lb bass to show for it ... This lake has little to no cover besides some grass around the edges, I've used Carolina rigs and such to try to find underwater cover but have had no luck it seems like its just open water... How do you goes go about bank fishing lakes like this??

I'm not very good at bank fishing because I'm so used to being in a boat but my trolling motor is broke ATM...

im sure youve tried or thought about it already but cranks work good to find a school or group suspending

some dont like finesse style fishing but weightless worms and wacky sticks are great when the bites just arent coming like normal

 

also what time of day have you been going out?

shaded areas are great cast into and swim it out into lighted areas

and depending how far out the grass goes the edge line of that grass could be killer

it seems like I've thrown a crank in every inch of that place besides the very middle because its hard to reach.... The 3lb bass I caught was on a square bill

Ponds can be very tricky at times because of how "open" they look but bass will relate to even the slightest amounts of cover. Start by working a search bait (spinners,cranks, etc..) and fan cast. If that doesn't produce, I would highly recommend switching to a soft jerkbait like a zoom fluke or a senko as those are great pond baits. You could also use a Texas rigged plastic but make sure you're using the lightest weight possible! Ponds are shallow so there is no need for anything over 1/4 oz unless it's extremely windy. If bass still aren't biting, try a shaky head or even a drop shot. These are both finesse type baits

But I have caught many fish over 5 with both, especially shaky heads. Just keep fishing and good luck!

I agree with shakey heads. I use the owner ultra head and a small natural colored zoom finesse worm often.

One thing I see a lot of shore fishermen do incorrectly and can contribute to a poor outing, is the way they approach the water and the clothing they wear.  Fish in ponds like you describe tend to hang out near the shore cover and a stealthy approach to the water's edge is a must. Even more so if the water is clear. When you move from spot to spot, don't do it along the water's edge.  As far as clothing, a white T-shirt and bluejeans can almost insure a disasterous outing.  Use any available cover or shade to your advantage.  With the latter in mind, early and late in the day shadows, both on and off the water are your friends.  Speaking of friends, don't forget the wind. Keep it in your face as much as possible.

Some ponds are just really hard to fish from shore. There's one near me where the bass mostly hang out in areas where the banks are protected (for wildlife conservation). Even though 80% of the shore is fishable, you can't get to 90% of the fish. I don't go there anymore:)
