Hey all I'm driving down with the family next week and stay in a cabin in the smoky mountains

I read there is some good trout and smallies fishing there

Also read that treble hooks not allowed

Can anyone recommend baits and line I can use on my spinning reel to catch trout and smallies there?

That's just a town over from me. Where do you plan on going? If wanna do some fishing you need to go to Douglas Lake. That's where FLW and BASS have their tourneys here. If you want a killer smallie lake, then Dale Hollow is the place to go. I don't really know of any good bass fishing spots in Gatlinburg though, and I've lived here since 96. I'm interested as to where you told to go. And you CAN use treble hooks on your lures. You just can't use an A-rig with more than 3 hooks on it.

Hey TN

I read it on fishing the streams at smoky mountains national park

Says no treble hooks and no fishing on Thursdays

How far is Douglas lake and do they have boat rentals?

When i lived in Montana before learning to fly fish for trout i used Panther Martin spinners in black body with yellow dots. Gold blade on cloudy day and silver on sunny. As far as trebles you can cut 2 hook points off and be legal thats what i did on streams with that rule. When river or creek fishing i always throw up current work lure back then let lure go past me and swing back toward shore, caught several fish in the swing part on big rivers but small or slow water i dont let it go past me. Another option is go by local fly shop and get a clear casting bubble and have them tell you a couple of flies for the water you will be fishing. Line and rod are going to depend on size of fish,5'6"UL-7'M with 6-10# test. Good luck...

Douglas isn't far at all. If you're coming from exit 407 off the interstate you will be very close to it. And there are a few places that u can rent boats or jet skis though I'm not sure of the prices. I've never fished in the park so I didn't know about their no treble hook rule. Bring your 6xds if u fish Douglas though, but if u don't our bps is off exit 407 lol.

I got nothing about their fishing but let me just say that we have stayed in the smokey mountain cabins three times now and its some of the greatest memories I have.

I guess it's different for those that just visit here. Try living in this area. No offense to tourists as they support the Sevier County economy but y'all are hell to the locals lol. I actually moved to Dandridge which is 2 towns over just to get away from the mess that comes with being in a tourist town.

I've fished here a million times.  Fish in Gatlinburg, right downtown.  Use a single hook, spinner, I like brown and black, in 1/16 oz or so.  Also small grubs work well.  4 lb test.  Just walk from Christus Gardens twards the Gatlinburg beginning twards Pigeon Forge.  I've done best by Twin Island Hotel, Christus Gardens and the park near Christus Gardens,  Good Luck

Douglas Lake is where it's at for bass fishing around here.
