BG RTR Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Headed to BPS this week. The neatest one is 2 .5 hr away so I like to stop in when I'm close by. What are a few favorite things you like to get there? Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 16, 2014 Super User Posted June 16, 2014 Its fun talking to other people in there about fishin! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 16, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2014 BPS Stick Os, everything else is overpriced, but I have a BPS 10 minutes from the house so I can afford to be picky. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted June 16, 2014 Super User Posted June 16, 2014 I will add my vote for Stick-os. The River Bugs are a good value as well IMO. The Pro Qualifier reels are still my go-to reels. Like everywhere else, you just have to pay attention. It is easy to get caught up in the excitement and buy stuff that you really don't need... Quote
HeavyFisher Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Nothing, but I love looking at the big fish tank! 2 Quote
Gary0155 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I agree that you are going to pay more there than other tackle shops. It is fun to go in there and browse around. I always spend way to much. I just spent $130 there yesterday and all I went in there to but was a $50 tackle bag. Quote
0119 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I can't complain about BPS. I've gotten 2 St.Croix LTB rods there for around $120. You just gotta be observant and willing to talk to a mgr. I get the mainstay of my bass lures there since local shops refuse to stock or order anything but saltwater tackle. That quickly racks up the points so I usually get at least $25 off any rod or reel purchased there. My gotta buy, every time I go there would have to be Zoom Super Flukes and long sleeve cotton t shirts. Quote

For some reason the local shops will not have my Zoom Super Fluke's, a lot of the better places carry fly fishing stuff. Especially in pearl white, my favorite. I also like my stik-o's but I don't go out of my way to get'em. I am also loving the BPS Squirming Worms, they flat out catch fish for me. Quote
FlipnLimits Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Boston Baked Beans and Burnt Peanuts. Also a few Chompers products. FL Quote
DropTheBass Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Honestly, I go there to see what the hot items are and later order them online for a lesser price. Majority of the items there are overpriced. I'll buy couple Sabikis or sale items from time to time. Quote
TNBassin' Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 If you're going to BPS and have an idea of what you want, go on Academy's site and see if they have the same thing cheaper. BPS will price match them or other local competitors. Academy had 6XDs for $3.99 and Red Eye Shad for $4.99, so I went in the other day and bought a bunch at that price at BPS. I even got them to price match some Seaguar Red Label line at $9.99 a spool. THEN I had a $10 off coupon so I saved $24 total off my purchase. They hate me there lol. Quote
The Fisher Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Carbonlite rods and pro qualifiers when they are on sale. Good place to try out rods, reels, and colors on different lures/plastics. Everything is pretty much overpriced compared to when on line sites have sales.....no sales tax and I usually buy enough for free shipping. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 17, 2014 Super User Posted June 17, 2014 Most of the stuff I use..........Havoc soft baits, and SK hard baits, are pretty much the same price at BPS as anywhere else so I always grab some when I am there. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 17, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 17, 2014 Mostly KVD line and lure, frogs, flukes and any specialty type tools when needed. Mike Quote
NathanW Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Pretty much spend most my time looking at the boats, the fish, and the dead animals. I havent bought anything from the store yet but I always get gift cards via gifts that I use online as soon as they do the free shipping deal. There are some items they carry that TW does not. I usually spend time looking for those items. When I go to Cabelas they almost always have Lucky Craft baits on sale for like 12 dollars. Will usually grab a couple of those. Quote
jigabooyah Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I take a list and try to stick to it. There are way too many choices and distractions. Impulse buying at its finest. Fishermen grab the baits about like a bass. Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I always grab some stick-os, and I grab there rod socks. I also noticed there frogs are decent too. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 18, 2014 Super User Posted June 18, 2014 I'm not a window shopper, but usually know exactly what I want, so in my case, online shopping is the only way to go. The only time I might drop into the Orlando BPS is when I happen to be in the neighborhood and have time to kill. But even at that, it's usually an exercise in futility, because the stock in their outlet stores is picked-over and incomplete. Have you noticed? The inventory at BPS has deteriorated badly over the years! They don't inventory many of my favorite lures such as the Megastrike Cavitron Buzzbait, Gambler Big EZ, All-Terrain Grassmaster Jig, Jackall lipless plug (TN/70), VMC tungsten sinkers and more. For me at least, BPS is no longer an online store with 'one-stop shopping', so the amount of my order never qualifies for free-shipping. This hurts BPS more than it hurts me. Roger Quote
Mr. BattleArmor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 According to my bank account, my favorite thing to get at Bass Pro Shop is: more than I should spend. 1 Quote
TNBassin' Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 A lot of BPS hate on here. Never mind that their customer service and selection is second to none. Yeah they charge a little more, but they PRICE MATCH DSG and Academy so if you're smart, there's no reason NOT to shop there. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 18, 2014 Super User Posted June 18, 2014 KVD L&L is probably the #1 thing I buy at BPS. 2 Quote
