Mccallister25 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Life long Braves fan here. I absolutely love baseball, but didnt keep up with it last year like I usually do, and am getting a late start again this year. I just started to get back into it recently, and Im wondering what the deal is with replay thing. Anyone care to fill me in? Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted June 15, 2014 Super User Posted June 15, 2014 The replay is what ruined baseball in my opinion. Any safe or out call can now be challenged by a manager, and will be overturned if there is "clear and convincing evidence" that contradicts the umpires call. When a close play happens, the manager will leave the dugout and tell the umpire that there might be a challenge. The manager then waits from a signal from his bench coach, who is talking to the booth, to find out whether or not the call is worth challenging. If the booth tells the bench coach that a call is worth challenging, he will give the manager a thumbs up to go ahead with the challenge. The play is then reviewed on-field by the umpires. Its a whole long stupid prosess that adds a lot of unnecessary time to the game. It just feels like a different game. Doesn't feel like baseball....But go Braves!! Quote
Chief 2 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I watch the Yankees just about every game. I don't see the replay as an issue. It doesn't really extend the game that much and it isn't like the managers are challenging every call. I have seen some calls overturned that really needed to be. The Umps are only human and can make mistakes. To bad they can't challenge some of the strike ball calls by the home plate ump. There are times I think those guys are blind! Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Thanks guys. I havent really seen the replay in action yet.. Maybe 1 time. I dont quite have an opinion on it right now. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 16, 2014 Super User Posted June 16, 2014 I like the cubs, the replay doesn't get used as much as it should... I like it Quote
