Big Fish Rice Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Wanted to see what you all think of the new Evinrude E-Tec G2? I know it will make some very picky guys happy since you can match the sideplates and accent colors...to the boat! Your thoughts? Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted June 15, 2014 Super User Posted June 15, 2014 Amazing. If these are reliable it will blow competition out of water. Supposedly better in every way. Glad to see companies looking for innovations. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted June 15, 2014 Super User Posted June 15, 2014 I like it. It's not as sexy as my Honda, but its pretty sharp. I can envision hydro-dipping the sideplates and top cap with a carbon fiber pattern. Quote
jamey912 Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Anybody heard what they will cost? I know the 2013 225's where 20k. I hope they do not price there way out of the bass market. Mec. and Yam. are cheaper but I like the evinrude better. Quote
jhoffman Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Looks pretty cool, what makes it "G2" , I know you can tune the first gen to run 100:1 on full synthetic, I also believe that first gen motor runs it through the block via direct injection of some sort. Id like to see this technology laid out as to what makes it special. I see its only available in 200-300hp. Guess you wont see many guys running them for awhile. Quote
Crappiebasser Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Think they look amazing. OMC for life! OMC has been out of business over 10 years. BRP makes Evinrude now. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 19, 2014 Super User Posted June 19, 2014 Pretty design but still an Evinrude inside. I avoid Evinrudes. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted June 19, 2014 Super User Posted June 19, 2014 Pretty design but still an Evinrude inside. I avoid Evinrudes. Why? Quote
TrapperJ Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 The design is growing on me. I know i have been "trained" to be nervous with Evinrudes, but what are they boasting now, 5 years no maintenance? that's pretty bold guarantee. Quote
Big Fish Rice Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 I will say that the boats I've ridden in with E-Tecs are quick to plane. Very powerful motors - but the issues with them over the last few years just makes me look towards Merc and Yamaha. This particular design is growing on me though. Of course, you have to wait a few years to let others be the guinea pigs. 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 Maybe it's just because it's new and it hasn't had time to grow on me, but I hate the look. I wouldn't foresee myself putting one on the back of my boat. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 From the pics I have seen of this motor, it appears to be a lot thinner than other motors on the market now, including the original E-Tec. Not sure why, but I kind of like something big hanging off the back? 1 Quote
slimshad Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Growing on me. I do like the fact that you can chose from several different colors. 5 year 500 hour is very bold. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted June 24, 2014 Super User Posted June 24, 2014 Whoa. I'll be in the market for another bass boat sometime in the near future. With the way prices are going, spending $100,000 on a new boat won't be too difficult. Quote
