Bassin30721 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I have a question on the right color frog to use. I know that darker color baits you use on bright, sunny days and bright colors on darker days. If anyone has any suggestions on new ideas please let me know. Quote
doyle8218 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I am opposite I use white in bright light and black when it is cloudy or dark. 2 Quote

Bassin30721 Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Sounds like I have it backwards. Which one do you throw on stained to murky water? Quote
shawnmc Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I would use a black frog in stained to murky water. A black and yellow frog would be just perfect. Quote
gnuisance Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 sometimes they want a black belly and sometimes they want a white belly. Just throw both until you figure it out 1 Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Sounds like I have it backwards. Which one do you throw on stained to murky water? There's really no "backwards". There's no standard in our sport. Throw both. On any given day they could want one over the other. If theres one thing Iv learned about fishing, it's that sometimes going against the grain can really produce. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 15, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 15, 2014 Cloudy-black sunny-black rainy-black windy-black dirty water-black clear water-black You get the idea I don't get to frog fish very often though so I might not know what I'm talking about. 2 Quote

Super User BassinLou Posted June 15, 2014 Super User Posted June 15, 2014 I don't go crazy on what color of frogs to throw and at what time of day to throw it anymore. I have narrowed down my field of frogs with 2 colors. One has a black bottom and the other as a white. Out of those 2 colors which ever the fish are zeroing in on the most is the frog color I will stick with. 1 Quote
JickleFish Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Black, Red, and Yellow are the best possible colors for frogs. I tend to go with black. Quote
TTS Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I prefer frogs that have a combination of light and dark colors vs all white or all black. A white/gray or yellowish bottom with darker sides seems to cover pretty much all the conditions that I come across. I think a bass finds the frog by the commotion on the surface more than the color.
