I bought a bb1 and lexa 300 to see which one I liked better. Both seem pretty similar. Only complaint is the rotation of the handle is a wider circle then I like. Are there aftermarket handles or other manufacturers known for a smaller/shorter handle?

Yes, many people prefer the longer handle as it provides for more leverage.  A standard 80MM Abu or Daiwa handle will fit the Lews, you can also get a shorter handle from Lews.  The grips from an Abu will interchange with the Lews but the Daiwa grips are different.  You could probably work a trade easy enough as most prefer the longer handle..

You can call lews and buy a shorter handle , I had a bb1 and that's what I did.. You can get one alum like the stock one for around $20 or get a carbon fiber one

Makes sense to me.  I don't use b/c but I did put a 4000 handle on a 2000 spinning reel.  The extra leverage has been very beneficial especially handling these 15# fish.  Took my reel from being nice reel to elevating to a great reel.
