I've been pondering picking up a Loomis for a while now. What power would you guys recommend for 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs (+ trailer)? 3 or 4?

Thanks  -- would your recommendation change if I was going for a shorter rod?  The 85x will fit in my rod locker but the 89x is getting too close for comfort.

853 will also work very well, 3 power loomis rods are very very versatile.

I use a GL2  724c JWR  Hvy 6' and own 4 other loomis's 2 more GL2 and 2 Gl3  one med hvy the rest hvy  like them all ... Good luck

I own the NRX 853, it is a very good choice for plastics and jigs in this weight range.

My favorite combination:  GLX MBR 842C/ Core 50mg7/ Tatsu #12

It can do a lot of things, but for me this is a dedicated swim jig and

small swimbait rig.
