Opinions needed from you guys on whether you think a Daiwa Tatula Casting Rod 7'2" Med Hvy is suited for tossing jigs (1/4oz to 1/2 oz)/texas rigged worms?  It's a regular blank...

It is the rod that I use for those techniques and it is amazing. Light sensitive and balances very well with my Tatula Type-R.....

that made my morning!  i'm pairing it up with my regular tatula 100HSL.  i didn't want to go overboard on action or power since i rarely if ever toss big heavy jigs or big heavy c rigs or anything of the like

I've always thought Daiwas terminology of "regular" action was very close to a "moderate" action rod. Yes or No?

Yes, regular normally used for moving baits.

Deep cranking rod.

Setting a single hook with a regular rod...be careful not to throw out your back.

Daiwa's regular means it is a moderate action cranking rod, not too good for jigs and worms.

I have not had any problems setting the hook fishing jigs with this rod. Just a quick little turn of the hips.

May work but doesn't mean it's the best option.

It is just my personal preference. So for some it may not be a good choice but for me it is perfect. I just don't like the F or XF action rods. I have tried them and just don't care for them.

Sorry to open up this thread again, just need some feedback on this particular rod which I just picked up.

I plan on using it for deep diving cranks that run 15'+ and any other crankbaits that weigh in at more than 1/2oz like certain squarebill types, and I believe I'm okay in doing that.

My main query is using the same rod for both spinnerbaits and chatterbaits which are greater than 1/2oz in weight; given that they are single hooked moving baits would I have any difficulty in setting the hook with this rod? I ask because I have problems with my back occasionally due to a sciatic nerve injury from years gone by.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

I use this rod for some bladed jigs, large topwaters, spinnerbaits and some sq bills.  It is a mod fast action but it has a good deal of power.

Thanks @Jrob78, I appreciate the quick follow up and your feedback.  Sounds like I'll be good to go with this rod for my intended applications.

I think you will be.  It's a pretty versatile rod with plenty of power.
