Considering the sizable Shimano congregation residing on this board... does anyone have personal experience improving casting distance with a Curado or Chronarch by removing the anti-reverse pawl?  Anyone find problems arose after the pawl was removed?  Thanks

I removed all of mine but it won't help with casting distance. However it make your reel much smoother on retrieving. To improve casting distance look at Boca abec7 ceramic spool bearing, hawgtech or Hedgehog Studios bearings. Also a good polish to the spool, break ring and cast control spacer (on older shimanos)

Thanks for the quick response.  I've already flushed the spool bearings and that did improve distance significantly.  In my hands smoothness during the retrieve is over rated.  I prefer to feel the reel working... SLIGHTLY.  I'm going to like this Chronarch very much after I spend more time with it.  Thanks again.

If the redundant AR is adjusted and greased properly it is a nice added feature and goes literally unnoticed during operation. Flushing the bearings is the single most cost effective improvement you can make followed by deep cleaning, Carbontex drag upgrade, Super Tuning, bearing swaps in that order.
