Mikell Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Okay so its been raining on and off here for days, every once in a while its nice and sunny then minutes to hours later it goes back to raining! I want to wet a line tomorrow, if this pattern continues can someone give me tips, advice, or maybe send an article or two my way about fishing in this kinda of weather? Lure types is really what im after lol Typical Florida weather though! Quote
WVbassin87 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 If the water's muddy here in WV, i go with either black or firetiger lures. preferably something with a lot of rattle or vibration. Rapalas are great. i also like to throw lipless cranks and Colorado bladed spinnerbaits Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 12, 2014 Global Moderator Posted June 12, 2014 Don't complain about that rain. If it stops you'll end up with a bunch of lakes that are 10' low or lower like a lot of the lakes are in KS right now, it sucks. I love a dark colored bladed jig when the water gets high. Fish it slow and steady around cover. Quote
Mikell Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 so no finesss worms? big worms slow crawled? everyones thinking reaction baits? Quote
speed craw Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I fish in the rain every chance I get , usually I have the ponds , lakes to my self . Spinnerbaits , buzzbaits , reaction baits . I target cover , lay downs , edges of grass mats and so forth . Fish move around alot in the rain so thats why I will bounce around a good bit to . Quote
SweepTheLegAU Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I'm with speed craw... fish any chance you can when it's raining. I've had good luck with spooks when its a drizzle, and killed them on a pearl white fluke just barely below the surface. My pond was still clear enough they could see it, they were practically catching it as it hit the water when the rain was really coming down hard. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 12, 2014 Super User Posted June 12, 2014 Florida lake, river, swamp, marsh? This time of year in Florida all options are open! Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted June 12, 2014 Super User Posted June 12, 2014 I hate this rainy weather as well. Didn't mind it much when I was younger, but now....forget it! Anyway, as to your question. Big is the way to go. Try a 7" Senko. Yum makes a dandy 10" worm which I've had a lot of success with, as well as their "Mighty Bug". Rig the later two on a weighted swimbait hook. The Senko I just TR with a 7/0 EWG worm hook. Good Luck! Quote
Mikell Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Ive got no problem with rain but when its thundee and lightning out every shower then thats a no go! Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Too water in a warm rain is awesome! Also fish don't mind getting wet. Try your luck as long as the acidity of the water ain't rising with the rain the bass tend to fire up. They kind of like the break up of the surface and a little lower light conditions. Spinnerbaits and too waters are my go to'a followed by senko style baits. Quote
Mikell Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Well I brought my 3 rods with me so ill be able to cover any situation ive got my dobyns 734c, duckett white ice Heavy/XF, and my 7'1 MF St Croix LTB. So anything from top to bottom and light to heavy! Quote
Fish Murderer 71 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 When the fish are on the move, think reaction... when they go suspending then think, gotta hit em in the head... Rain gets the crawfish movin, the frogs hoppin, and bait fish confused. fish accordingly... Quote
Mikell Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Im not a fan of reaction baits haha ill use em but i dont catch enough to enjoy the fishing experience like im talkin if i stick strictly to reactions then its maybe 1 maybe 2 fish outah 3 whole fishing trips haha its jus not my bag man i mainly fish soft plastics worms craws and stuff like that Quote
