Arv Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I will be going out fishing in the near future with a friend that apparently likes to hit submerged brush piles pretty hard. I'm not sure of the depth where the pile are at, but I'm assuming nothing deeper that ~25ft. My question is, do you think my Dx 744c/Lews TP 7.1:1/50#PP rig will be man enough to tackle brush piles? I'm planning on using it to throw jigs and t-rigs around 1/4-1/2oz. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance! Quote
livetofish28 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Yes lol it will work just fine Tight lines Andrew Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted June 11, 2014 Super User Posted June 11, 2014 With 50lb line, you can bring the brush pile up with the fish if you want. Quote

Arv Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Haha thanks guys. I've never really fished much out of a bass boat. I'm mostly in my kayak hitting the shallow water. I didn't know how gnarly you might expect deep brush piles to be. I had a feeling my set up would be fine, just wanted to be more than sure. Sadly.... I was kind of hoping someone would tell me I needed a 745 so I could justify buying a new rod 1 Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted June 11, 2014 Super User Posted June 11, 2014 If they're man made, it's usually something like Christmas trees. Otherwise, most of them I fish resemble a tumbleweed, kind of. 1 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted June 11, 2014 Super User Posted June 11, 2014 The 744 or 745 will work fine. I choose based on what size bait I'm throwing. 5/8 or under, 744. Over 1/2, 745. Good luck, you're gonna have fun. 2 Quote

BuckyKat Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Not only do you need a 745 you'll also need a new LEWS super duty 5.4.1. Gonna need the torque winching that brush outta there! Quote
