Tried out one of the stealth blade chatterbaits I picked up the other day, so far pretty impressed with it. Water was cold and the shad are finally starting to school up, but the feeding pattern isn't wide open yet. Still managed a handful, couple of nicer fish with the biggest going 3lb 3oz.

They were eating it pretty deep, too, which is good to see. One little guy right before dark choked it.

I went fishing yesterday in the rain at Freeman Lake. During one of the brief breaks, I caught a real nice 2 pound Largemouth Bass. Unfortunately, I didn't have the phone with me, and the wife was hiding in the car due to the rain.

The water was nearly perfectly calm, with orange, red, and yellow leaves scattered on its surface. I worked the Spit'm Image fast a few times, then slowed down, moving it between the leaves. It was more than the pot bellied little bass could take, and he slammed my lure about 10 yards from shore.

Here is a picture of my favorite topwater lure from today, well... my favorite is the original Excaliber, but this Heddon will suffice for now.

Been there buddy, makes the next time better

I've had one good bite across three boat trips this year with two different guides. I just get the opportunity so little, I'm honestly pretty upset at how that has gone this year. Been looking forward to this trip for weeks. Guide caught a 7+ and a couple smaller fish. My buddy and I had a single 16" fish between the two of us on an 8 hour trip. I get that nobody controls the bite but I do feel like maybe when you realize your clients haven't caught **** all day, maybe put your own rod down for a little bit and give them first crack at a FFS fish for once

Council,

I submit my own request to be nominated as the Trendy Lures Police Chief for the Latest Catch Pics Thread

My duties would include but would not be limited to:

1. Ensuring bassresource members select lures for their fishing that are currently fashionable and used by today's professional anglers.

2. Promoting the use of whatever lures the quintessential 16 year old bass fishing YouTuber currently recommends.

My powers would include but would not be limited to:

1. Scolding bassresource anglers that do not use trendy lures. NOTE: As a rule this includes swiftly deploying a GIF to supplement the scolding.

What say you, council?

@LrgmouthShad - if it works, who cares...there's people out there fishing for bass with (gasp) live bait...a spoonplug is peanuts compared to that.

Well guess count me out, I feel I have perfected crankbait fishing. Pretty much used it specifically for last three years spring summer fall and winter.  Im actually amazed its still working.

Todays mission was testing it with braid.

Jury still out. Scared to throw hard and get it bound up. There has to be good braid for power casting.  I was using suffix 832…not impressed.

David Fritts was right you can feel everything with braid. But at $30 a pop im tired trying braids to try find one i can throw without birds nest.  They seem to come out but dont think my rod likes the last minute zipp when it happens.

Parking lot hoodlums in full effect.

My tackle has collectively been a dink or skunk magnet the past couple weeks. You know it's not great when you're catching sunfish on your topwater instead of bass.  😆

At least Pops ran across a good one...

A Spoonplug sighting!

I sneak a few pics of them in from time to time 😆 You’ll see them in a couple photos from my Oct 12 report, too. Actually been using them quite a bit here lately…something the fish probably haven’t ever seen, and most people don’t own 😎

This winter I'm gonna be fishing like a man from the 80s.  Spoons and blades and pencil baits and traps and spinners and jigs.  Gonna be downright vintage!

I'm no professional guide, but I did guide three fishers this summer. I put two of them in the bow of a tandem canoe and I spent 70% of my time positioning them for bass and coaching them. If they were on a sweet spot, I kept the paddle in my hand so as to be ready to back the boat away from weeds when they hooked a bass. One of the three fishers was a kayak angler, so I gave him all my best spots, suggested tactics, and stayed near him in case he needed me. Again, I wasn't paid, but a paying guide should at least equal the support I offered.

FWIW, the kayaker lost a four-to-five-pounder, the kid caught the biggest bass of his life, and the kid's father caught his biggest bass of the summer. If they'd been skunked, I would have been embarrassed.

The kid caught the most and I attribute that to a kid being less set in his fishing ways.

Chef, I think your guide used you to pay for his gas and boat's mortgage payment. I think only you and your buddy should be casting to those FFS fish.

Slow morning. Caught four, missed one. Everything on a blue/black laminate 5” Senko WR. Did have one start to take a Whopper Plopper but other than that, no bites on anything else.  Three were like the one in the first pic. One was decent.

Water temps here dropped very quickly from 64-ish to 58-ish.  Suddenly I'm finding them bunched up on windblown main lake points.  Love the time of year when, if I catch one, I know I'm catching more from the same spot.  They are definitely hunting.  I have to keep my pliers in my pocket because every single one of them just INHALES it.  Two or three weeks from now they will be piled up in the backs of pockets.  Just Heaven.

Oh, and I have to remember to keep my net assembled and handy this time of year because 4lb 8oz saugeyes are hitting crankbaits in less than a foot of water. SMH
