Woody B Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I went from 7 until 11 this morning. I caught 10, 9 Spots and 1 Largemouth. The biggest was a 4.26 pound Spot. (pictured) I also caught a 4.26 ounce spot(I didn't actually weigh it) Does this bass make my hand look big? (pictured lol) I also caught a 3.52 pound Spot(not pictured). The only Largemouth was 2.33 pounds, on my last cast. 4 were on a buzz bait, including the 4 pounder and the Largemouth. 5 were on a T-rig, most after rolling on the buzz bait. The 4.26 ouncer was on a DT6. I also caught a small catfish on a DT6. 19 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted September 9, 2023 Super User Posted September 9, 2023 One last trip to the closest pond under some scattered cloud cover and a nice NNE breeze. Temps today much cooler, floating around the mid 70s. Went with the finesse jig for a changeup and caught half a dozen - nothing big. 15 Quote
Woody B Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 @gimruis I'll schedule a cut with my barber. (Mrs B )....or get a Tennessee hat. @Pat Brown I forgot to mention, all of the buzz bait bass were hooked on the trailer hook. It hangs a long way behind the bait. I'll try to remember to take a picture of it tomorrow. 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 9, 2023 Super User Posted September 9, 2023 Did some small stream fishing today. Caught about 8 with this being the largest . Caught them on cheap Wal Mart swimbaits. Rigged on a Scrounger , Beetle Spin and ball head jig . The one pictured with the ball head jig. 16 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Took a buddy and his son out on Georgian Bay today. Kid is totally eaten up with all things fishing right now, so I tried to get him into some big smallies. In total we got around 30 or so, mostly smaller ones, but his dad got this beauty right near the end of the trip, 6.04lbs on the digital scale. Needless to say, he’s ready to go back out on the boat with me any time! 19 Quote

Seems to be a good idea when they're short striking! 1 Quote

I intended to get back in the creek this summer but it didn't happen. I thought that with a knee replacement last Nov. that I would be good to go. Knee's golden but a bad right ankle has only gotten worse so no rock hopping on slick algae. Wading creeks here in IN has always been my favorite form of fishing. We're pretty close in age so a tip of the hat to you. That sure is a nice smallie. Go get another one before the weather turns. 1 Quote

I have significant arthritis in my right ankle and wear a brace almost 100 percent of the time. I cant spend to long fishing like this or wont be able to walk later. The rocks were slick and almost went down twice. Hope you get to go before the weather turns. It was beautiful today. Quote

I use to stumble more when I was out of the water because I wasn't as careful as when wading. I was in too much of a hurry to get to the next pool. Sorry about your ankle. Mine's the right, too. My other problem is a doting wife that throws a fit if I act like I'm going to try. You got me thinking about tomorrow (maybe). Conditions are perfect with low water just starting to cool down. 1 Quote
Dominat0r Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Really been liking this new spinning combo, took it out today with a 3" keitech on a VMC 1/8th swimjig head. I guess they really liked it, got some nice fish, all within about an hour. Loving the weather now, it was about 79F when the sun went down. Looks like I have fully broken in my new setup, maybe do a new leader soon, but overall it feels really good. Its fun to play the fish a bit, instead of just powering them in on a bait caster. 18 Quote
Jmurphy87 Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Well I have been absent from the thread for a while, don’t think that I have not been catching fish though. Here are some of the few that I caught. The river that I have been fishing is a whole different animal and skill set than I am used to. I have recently ventured into using a spinning rod some more, daiwa kage walleye rod medium extra fast action with 8lb braid to 7lb fluorocarbon leader. I finally got the promotion that I have been waiting on about three weeks ago. I am still semi homeless, don’t have my own place staying with some friends for a little over a month now. Today I got another speed bump in my life, the engine blew on my car. Well that’s going to hurt my fishing some, no clue how I am going to get to work anymore. It’s around 36 miles one way, oh well time to overcome adversity like I have in the past again I guess. Best wishes to all of you and keep catching them for me. 19 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted September 10, 2023 Super User Posted September 10, 2023 MURPH! It's great to see you in the Latest Catch Pics thread again. Nice bass too. And Dom and you using spinning gear is, well, ol'cricketyesque. 1 Quote

thediscochef Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Caught four this size, three on a lipless and one on the shaky head (thanks @LrgmouthShad) before it was a little too crowded for me to do my thing. Had every variety of meme fishing going on out there - the upside down spinning reel, the guy with five rods keeping fish of questionable legality, the stink bait guy, the guy in a skeeter parked next to the public pier, the fly fisherman ?? I found it mostly entertaining, by the time I was crowded out the bites were dying down anyway. It was borderline chilly out this morning, other people weren't about to kill my mood. A guy dropped his net in the water, I was able to flip a red eye shad onto it and pull it back to the pier. It was a good morning, hopefully first of many to come. 15 Quote
Dominat0r Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Ok, I know its not a bass.....but tell me, how many of you get catfish on a texas rig? (Blazin worm). I wasn't fishing it slow either, burning it on the weed edge line. I almost thought it was a baby snakehead when I felt the hit. It hit it moving pretty fast too, never in my life have I ever caught a catfish A- during the day and B- on a plastic worm. Got to use my new Legend Xtreme, hands down the best rod I have ever used in terms of sensitivity and weight. This rod BLOWS me away. The Metanium is going to be my new GO-TO reel. I can not put it down, its so nice. Fatty catty too, eating really well it seems. 10 Quote
