Organized chaos! ? Thanks man, it’s a good setup for pond fishing. Still working out some kinks but it’s getting there.

Can we get some details on it?  Feel free to PM them if you don't want to hose up the thread

I can't stand watching you guys catch bass after bass. Like an old Eskimo woman, I'm going to go out to the ice to die.*

*Okay, I'll give it two more months.

Well, there are places just as quaint as Maine. If you want to stay in a Siberian

climate, Wisconsin or Michigan might be alternatives. Both states offer thousands

acres of wilderness, a variety of fishing and canoeing opportunities and as much

solitude as you will find anywhere.

I lived in Wisconsin for 30 years and I've spent months in Minnesota, so I know them well. I even lived on the Wisconsin River for a couple years and have lived on the Mississippi River for about a year in aggregate. However, when it comes to virgin bass ready to bust up a surface lure, the only place I've found that compares to Maine is northwestern Ontario.

@MN Fisher, now I feel badly for you and will quit my complaining.

Took advantage of the big break in the rain this afternoon. Decided to go to the clearest lake due to the heavy cloud cover. Nearly calm and low 50s when I started, so went with Ned. Picked up half a dozen scattered fish. Then the warm frontal line hit us, with temps rising very fast, and actually setting a new daily record of 71 degrees. The old record of 70 was 101 years old, set back in 1922. The wind also suddenly blew up, steadily blowing 25 mph out of the SSW. Switched to a jerkbait and headed for the windiest corner and proceeded to catch another dozen bass, mostly smaller fish, but a sign of good reproduction and the future of the fishery. Never disappointed seeing and catching the little guys.

Hey,

So I decided to cast out after work again because I noticed a lot of activity along the shoreline. I assumed it was a group of bass that moved in and were having a feeding frenzy lol. I had some good luck and landed a nice largemouth and something I have never caught before. Turns out it's called a clown knifefish, it put up a decent fight,  thought it was a bass. Hopefully that's a good sign for my future fishing luck ???

Clown knifefish can swim backwards. Did yours?

@Team9nine In those sunglasses, you look like Richard Belzer, which is a very good thing. Richard Belzer and David Bowie were always the coolest guys in a room, wherever the room.

Lol - wasn’t a fan of Belzer, though was sad to hear he just passed. Bowie, on the other hand…I still have a rather extensive vinyl collection of his stuff. Always was a huge fan and glad I got to see him live in concert ?

Just as it starts to feel like early spring and the pre-spawn, we get a forecast of 9 straight days of snow up at my elevation. I'll really be itching to get out after the upcoming break leading into peak season.

Nice spot on an underspin.

And another...

And another inhaled it. Love seeing images of their unique markings.

I keep reminding pops we're not trout fishing, but he just can't help himself. ?

Last one of what was a pretty great February day out on the water.

My OCD nature is one of the main reasons why I love the Spotted Bass so much, I think they are just perfect in form and function.    Much like a big cat, they are as lethal as they are beautiful.

Nice ones, and awesome trout by your dad!   Heck of trip I'd say.

Never noticed the resemblance but dang @ol'crickety now I’m never going to unsee it?. Agreed on Bowie being the coolest and also was fortunate to see him although it was way too many years ago.

He ain't much but he sure wanted that big old Siebert spinnerbait!

Pretty morning with 70° warm winds blowing in out of the southwest.

Gorgeous cotton candy skies.

Paralleling the bank he hit like a freight train.  Popped him right on back in where he came from and scurried home to get to work ;)

Tight lines!

@NorcalBassin I like how your photos vary. I need to do more of that. I also like seeing photos of your trips because they're so different than where I fish. I think I shared once how California looks like another planet to me. Have you ever been to Maine? It can feel otherworldly too. Our forests are so thick. They're forbiddingly, fairy-tale-creepy thick, nothing like the park-like beech forests of Ohio or the equally open and welcoming forests of New York.

Maine forests should have signs that say, "You enter, you die. You choose."

NorCalBassin, on the other hand/side of the continent, looks like he's fishing on Mars.

Sometimes in the summer when it's 100+ it feels like we're fishing on Mars. ?

I'm a big Sox fan and finally made it out to Fenway for a couple games a few years ago. Couldn't be in that part of the country without seeing parts of NH and Maine, so we rented a car and headed up there for a couple days. Maine specifically was lunch in Kennebunkport, a visit to Portland and a quick side trip to Sebago Lake because I couldn't be that close to a lake like that without going to see it in person. You live in an incredibly beautiful part of the country!

Not a great day but not bad, either. Got on the water about 8:00. Started on top but no action. Tried a chatterbait and a jerkbait. Same result. After a while I switched over to a Texas rig. Caught 2 on a 5” black Senko  and 1 on a Fat IKA in Fading Watermelon w/Black Flake. But the star of the show was an X-Zone 4.25” Adrenaline Craw in Summer Craw. I had two blow-ups on top as soon as it hit the water, and one bass was barely hooked, he threw the hook, I casted it back and he slammed it again. I gotta fish that bait more often!

spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngTopping things off was at the end of the trip, I looked up and saw this WP 110 dangling in some branches. Looks new!

spacer.pngI like catching big bass like we all do. But I’ll say these 1.5-2.5 lb’ers really put up a fight.  One started taking line. I haven’t heard my drag sing in a while!

We officially went post-frontal less than 24 hours ago, but the temps lagged the pressure line by nearly the same amount of time. Today started out after lunch near our high for the day (65/66) with WSW winds 28 mph gusting to 40 mph. Grabbed a couple jerkbaits and headed for some wind-blown pockets. Was able to catch 32 fish before calling it with some clouds moving in, the wind starting to rotate to the NW, and air temps 10 degrees cooler than when I started.
