Super User everythingthatswims Posted April 12, 2017 Super User Posted April 12, 2017 Found a couple on beds today, managed to catch one before a thunderstorm chased me off the lake, I didn't paddle fast enough and had to hunker down in a low spot while it passed, but made it back in one piece! 8 Quote
WDE Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Found this little guy floating/swimming lazily on his side. I scooped him up out of the water to snap a quick pic, and he flopped out of my hand. I thought for sure he was dead, but I put him back in the water and he swam away. Definitely the smallest bass I've ever "caught". And I also saw this one cruising rip rap for shad, two casts and he took the lure. 8 Quote
Airman4754 Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 A little Plopper at dusk. I hit a few on a Rage lizard too, but the lizard bite isn't on yet. 7 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted April 14, 2017 Super User Posted April 14, 2017 Chronarch MGL on Smoke rod using paddletail yo yoing off bottom. Right at 18" little over 3 pounds I freed this robin from some braid that it got tangled in. Knotted around its neck and both feet/legs it was in a perdickerment. I only had long nose pliers with wire cutter so it wasnt very easy being gentle around its neck took about 45 minutes to get all braid off of it. It looked away camera shy and all. 16 Quote
HeavyTwenty Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Caught using BPS black buzz bait. I didn't weigh her, but she felt about 6.5 lbs. She fought like a 1 lber; no fight when I dragged her through the grass... must be weak from spawning? 10 Quote
iiTzChunky Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 My pb was like that. But the small bass I've been getting have put up a fight, the big one was like just dragging it in. Wasn't very exciting. Quote
Tody Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Greetings from a new member. Raided a nest the other day with a Keitech Swing Impact Fat, slowly retrieved on the bottom. I don't have a scale to weight her but she was heavy enough to bother my recent hernia surgery 5 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 15, 2017 Global Moderator Posted April 15, 2017 Caught some fatties Thursday, part of a 20lb bag for the day. 10 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted April 16, 2017 Super User Posted April 16, 2017 Downtown Morgantown is producing some fish right now, bites are hard to come by but it is always like that, very tough fishery for sure. My friend and I are fishing it 3 days in a row, today was our second day out. So far we have caught 4 bass over 12". Tuff for sure but it definitely makes you a better angler to stick it out and keep your head up. Won't have long tomorrow but we should be able to get the kayaks out for a little while in the morning before the storms roll in. I have class in the green building to the left of the spinnerbait line tie! 9 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted April 16, 2017 Super User Posted April 16, 2017 The bite was pretty good this morning, we caught 4 keepers, doubling the number we had caught in the past two days. I was lucky enough to catch three of them, and they just so happened to all be different species. Easter Trifecta 18 Quote
Airman4754 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 There is a little one acre pond tucked away that I fish about once a week. There are a ton of 2.5 to 3lb fish. I've never caught of seen anything really big, but I know there is at least one pig in there. I absolutely crushed it tonight. I caught a good fish on a Ned, Neko, Split Shot, Senko, Drop Shot, and Spinnerbait. I cast a Senko, I let it sink down to the bottom and I left it there for about 20 seconds dead sticking. I feel two taps, reel down and hammer it home. It's completely solid. No head shake, just brute force pulling back. I'm telling my buddy I've finally got the pond monster on and right after it just goes limp. I'm standing there staring at the sky, my rod starts dancing again, a dink picked it up. I go put my Senko back on the hook and I notice my EWG's point is nowhere near the body of the bait. That fish had the hook point bent about 30 degrees out. In all of my years of bass fishing I've never had a fish actually straighten out a hook. I will land that fish soon and it's going to be awesome Still a great night though. 13 Quote

Airman4754 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Way to kill my dream...you could be right though. I do catch most of my Senko fish dead sticking. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 17, 2017 Super User Posted April 17, 2017 Got out on the Mississippi on Friday with my dad for our first trip of the year. Had a blast and was pretty happy with the results, being that I've never fished that pool of the river before. Boated around 20 in 6 hours and lost a handful of others. Hoping to head back tomorrow and learn a little more before our tourney this weekend. 16 Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Not a lot of numbers today but 2 fish weighing almost 10 pounds will do The top one was 5 pounds 4 ounces the bottom one was 4 pounds 10 ounces. 14 Quote

Super User fishballer06 Posted April 19, 2017 Super User Posted April 19, 2017 First 4 pounder of the year. I was reeling in a small bass and this fish came out from under a dock and swiped at the fish I was fighting. I landed the small fish, released it, and tied on a LC 1.5 and swam it right beside the dock. Bam! 12 Quote

Will Wetline Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 4/18/17 Here's a pre spawn smallmouth from Quabbin Reservoir. I'll post about this trip in the near future, but right now this bucktail jig and I are headed back to the Q. 13 Quote
WDE Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 We just left Gaston's White River Resort in Northern Arkansas. We hit our limit of 15 rainbows early on, and spent the rest of the day catching and releasing. After spending about 8 hours on the river we popped over to the little pond on the resort. I lost count after landing 8, hooked into I don't know how many. They were biting the second the plastic worm hit water. 6 Quote
