Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 18, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 18, 2017 Had a slow day Thursday, which I expected the day after a massivery 5 day cold front left the area. On the plus side, most every one I caught was a nice one. Had 4 keepers for 14.56 pounds, all on jerkbaits. 8 Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 I had about a 15" largie hit the trailer on my chatterbait yesterday and held on for about 30' while I reeled it in. It just swam in a straight line right towards me. Right when it got to the bank it let go and swam off. I've never seen anything like that in my life. I never had a hook in it at any point. I thought I was dragging grass so I was reeling it in as fast as I could. Odd stuff. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 20, 2017 Super User Posted March 20, 2017 Got out for awhile this evening and got this 4.3 not long before dark.Caught her at what I call " big hole " the deepest water in the home lake.Caught her on a 5 inch senko, purple with a chartreuse tail. Caught 4 other fish too, some on the watermelon trick worms. Seen a decent fish on a bed but couldn't get her to eat.She did chase a lizard once. Nice, cool evening on the water. 9 Quote

JustinCT Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Wow, really nice pigs being caught! Congrats to those that have caught fish in 2017 I am very jealous 1 Quote
jimf Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 There are some nice fish being caught. In the upper midwest I'm just happy to get out. Last Sunday was my first trip of the year, this was the second fish I caught of the year (first was a dink). About 1/2 dozen like this one, not a bad start to the season. 4 Quote
HeavyTwenty Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I've had a slow 2017 until this week. Caught both in the same area, maybe same bed, 3 days apart. Both off of watermelon trick worm on a bubba shot. Battery was dead on scale for the first one, but it was 22.5". Second bass was much thicker, 22" @ 6lb13oz. For whatever reason they look kind of small in the photos, I'm guessing its camera angle. PBs for retention ponds+bank fishing. 10 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted March 23, 2017 Super User Posted March 23, 2017 I can see the fish mouth is bigger than your fist and that is a really good size fish for sure. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 26, 2017 Super User Posted March 26, 2017 Nice Bass ~ PB's are always a Blast ! Congrats A-Jay 1 Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 The smaller females are hitting the banks so that's always my sign to start throwing a bream colored chatterbait. I caught three fish in the 3.5 to 4lb range. I didn't get a picture of the first. I had a hell of a time getting her released. Oh and Go Ducks! First Final Four since before the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor! 7 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 28, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 28, 2017 Had a tournament at Table Rock this weekend. I think out kicker on Sunday really wanted my jerkbait. 13 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted March 28, 2017 Super User Posted March 28, 2017 It really freaks me out when they eat it like that. I see them come up and I just know the bait is destined to pop out with one headshake! 1 Quote
Airman4754 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 They will even bite on a dreary day on your lunch break! 6 Quote

I saw a lot of activities, boiling on surface, not sure if it bass or carp. I did not have any top water with me, I'll try again tomorrow night with all kind of top water lure I have lol. BTW, I missed a hook set on one bass that bite my missile bait D stroyer on 3/0 weighted hook, this is second time I miss hook set at night, not really sure why?. May be I set hook too fast or too slow, but I always make sure I feel the fish on the line before setting the hook. 2 Quote

Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted March 30, 2017 Super User Posted March 30, 2017 Wind and rain 43 degrees today but was rewarded with this nice 5 pound bass. Was at the place only 15 minutes and caught it, only bass of the short day. Caught on Mepps in-line spinner using Avid 8' ML/Mod rod Daiwa RG-AB reel 8# Nanofil. 8 Quote
