Caught one this morning that might’ve weighed a pound and was maybe 12 - 14 inches and lost two others. The bite is sucking wind for me here. A friend and his family came over and he caught 2 bass using a t-rigged green pumpkin worm in maybe 20 minutes. One was decent sized too. ? I was checking him out to see if he was calling them to him. ?

I’ve tried a whopper plopper and had hit or miss luck so far but couldn’t catch a cold with a frog yet. Dunno why.

Pretty fish brother.    Same here the last week for sure, slowest it's been in months.

Maybe try a little bit once the sun goes down.    I'm going to try that this evening.   Instead of fishing the last 3 hours of light, I'm gonna fish the last hour of light + a few hours after light.

Gonna try that. I was out there by sunup this morning thinking I’d beat the heat and catch a few. Guess I’ll try reversing that idea and see how it goes.

Go figure I tried to repeat the same formula as last night tonight, same time, same place, same everything.....nothing

That said, I didn't fish much after dark because I opted to go at about 4pm thinking I'd fish 50/50 Bass and Crappie.

Ended up catching a lot of small Bass, including the smallest one I can remember catching since I was a kid.   Caught the most uniquely colored Bass I've personally ever caught.    A perfect blend of a smallie and LGM.   Biggest fish was under 2lbs, most of the fish were pounders or below.   Very unique day for a number of reasons, but catching lots of small fish is very unique for this lake.

Caught 4 Species of fish today which was cool.   1. Alabama Bass 2.  Largemouth Bass 3. Crappie 4. Rock Bass or Warmouth.....we've always called them Rock Bass mainly, but I think both might be wrong haha

Figure as long as my normal routines and honeyholes are lockjaw for the most part, might as well take advantage of the gorgeous weather and fish/wildlife

Lastly, if you don't own a Z-Man Chatterbait Flashback Mini - Tackle Warehouse , pick one up.  Super cheap at 3-4bucks at comes with an extra swim body.   This thing catches more Bass than it does Crappie, but it will essentially catch everything in a lake down south.   I can see this being killer for those who pond fish as well.   Mine is 1/8th oz in natural Shad color I believe they call it.   The big key with this bait I'm finding is that a "Yo Yo" retrieve is irresistible to smaller LGM, Spots, and Crappie.      They mainly hit it when you drop it after popping it.  Even works trolling as I caught a few, and lost a few moving to spots trolling it.     Fishing it over deep structure piles will absolutely produce smiles!

Lastly, the bird of the day is........?    I love how they all fight for this place.   Perhaps just a juvie Blue Heron.

I love the quality of the light in the third photo. I also love that you always catch joy. You are a master joy fisher.

I'm actually going fishing tomorrow afternoon, Alex, and won't be able to fish for at least five days after that due to a visit from a Tennessee bud who doesn't fish. What's wrong with him??? Anyway, I'm loading my rods with different lures: a soft plastic swimbait, a lipless crankbait, a real nightcrawler, and a Ned bait. My catch has been cut in half my last two outings and I want to see if different lures will help. I am going to also use a wacky worm since that's still producing.

P. S. - I'd love to catch a rock bass. I haven't caught one of those guys for more than half a century.

It's so nice to hear kind words from somebody such as yourself Katie.   Everybody likes to be understood in this world, fishing is such an intimate activity the way many of us do it.  Thusly, it's hard to share the highs/lows, and beauty that is Bass fishing with anybody but those rare people in this world that "get it" in regard to the pursuit of these magical fish.

I love the idea of going for LGM with night crawlers, and I'm envisioning some really nice Maine Bass.    That's a great gameplan to me because it's nice to try things you don't have time to do when the bite is on.

Good luck, looking forward to some pretty super green lunkers :)

Got out for about an hour and a half before noon. Good breeze ahead of a our first real fall cold front so I figured that bass would be aggressive. Caught 15 on an old Azuma Wake-Z that's seen a lot of action. I also lucked into it being bogo Wednesday. Got two for the price of one!

I'm going to buy one of those Azuma Wake-Zs. I bet the Yankee bass will love it. Any tips on retrieving it or where I should cast it?

I really wish Tackle Warehouse was closer. Waiting on UPS is not my forte’. ? Didn’t get a chance to go back out yesterday evening as my hands/fingers have developed trigger-finger and were hurting pretty bad in spite of getting steroid shots in them Monday. Let me just say that stung like the devil. Anyway, soon as the ‘ol hands ease off I’m gonna go back at it.

Dang friend, sorry to hear about the hands.   Hopefully the shot works, and you'll be hammering them in no time.

Yeah waiting for fun stuff in the mail makes me feel like a petulant child ?

Don't forget that @TnRiver46 knows where the Forensic Anthropological Research Facility (a.k.a - the body farm) is, OK? I don't want you to disappear. ?

They're 5/8 oz. and like throwing a brick. I just retrieve at a moderate steady pace. The strikes can be vicious. Also, I change out the stock hooks for #2 KVD triple grips. One of the stock hooks broke in short order. This set has been on it ever since.

Thanks, Bassman. I've selected three colors. I LOVE vicious strikes and am excited to use them. Thanks too for the hook swapping tip.

Well, I fished this evening and caught two bass. I threw my tackle box at them and they threw it back in my canoe. The water felt cool as the bite, but the evening was gorgeous. A Maine bog with gin clear air and sugar maples beginning to blaze. At times, I just drifted, witnessed, and gave thanks.
