I was thinking is was the rod being softer than my UMBX's and it wasn't getting the hook in (a buddy landed a 7lb toad with the same rod in my boat last year), I was thinking it was the mono leader because I forgot my fluoro in my boat and I NEVER use mono. I almost, almost, almost blamed my equipment. Then I broke my weight off and I realized I didn't run my tag end back through the hook and it was dancing with the hook sideways and every time I really got into the fish the worm popped out without any hook catching. This whole time my six year old put five fish on the bank on a ned rig. He skunked me and I am totally fine with that! He even caught this deformed looking thing: sign him up for the tour , he's ready!! Quote
Ktho Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Spring is in full effect in my area, hit the local pond to flip the creek and got a nicer one. 6 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted March 3, 2017 Super User Posted March 3, 2017 I've heard at the perris and DVL the bites are getting good too, have you gone there yet? Quote
Ktho Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I haven't, been meaning to hit DVL or Skinner just hasn't happened yet. They should be up shallow if not this week then next week for sure. Quote
NCbassraider Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Still crushing it on the jerkbaits here in NC. 8 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Nice, you know your doing something right when they hit the head of a vision 110. 2 Quote
NCbassraider Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Yeah, very windy here today so I was pulling it with the wind towards the wind-blown bank so they would be looking straight at it. Had 30 minutes to kill and caught 7 fish in that time. It's tough to spend $25 on a jerkbait but these things are killer in clear water. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 4, 2017 Global Moderator Posted March 4, 2017 Kind of a slow day with post cold front conditions but I did manage to catch one pretty nice one on a LC 78DD pointer. 9 Quote

Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted March 7, 2017 Super User Posted March 7, 2017 Braved the wind(30-40mph) today but went to the corner of lake and had wind to my back plus a little hill and trees to block some wind. I managed 2 on a Keitech 3.8" fat paddle tail. Around 17" 2-1/2 pounds was the big one and fortunate to have landed it... I had been tossing inline spinners for pike just before keitech and had a wire leader by means of a snap swivel well that snap swivel gave out. I thought my line snapped at first but 30# braid doesnt let go so easily. Once flopping bass was under control I eyed my line and saw the culprit. The snap cut my line. 5 Quote
cport0519 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Caught my first ever bed bass today. Went to a little retention pond I know of at lunch and spotted this buck guarding a nest. I had been throwing a small baby bass zoom fluke, so I tossed it at him for about 10 minutes, and all he did was look at it. Tied on a 3.5" watermelon red flake havoc and after 3 casts, he finally got pi**ed and swam off with it. Weighed in at 1 lb 10 oz, not huge, but great lunch time fun. 8 Quote

BigSkyBasser Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 We found a hot spring that stays fishable even when it is 9 degrees outside like this day. It doesn't hold fish larger than about 2 pounds at the very most but it gets us by. 10 Quote

Lucky dog, after catching those Texas pigs Indiana's little dink's aren't going to seem very exciting. Every time I fish out of state (never fished down south yet though) I am reminded of how pour Indiana's bass fishing is, and am sorely disappointed when I return to reality world. Cangrats on the pb, hopefully you'll break that again before coming back. Thanks! We are coming back today weather man said storms. He lied only cloudy wish I would have gotten one more day. We are already planning to go to Florida next year 1 Quote
