After being in a bit of a slump for the past month or so, I finally had a decent day and lucked up on bass feasting on schooling shad. Largest 3.5lbs, smallest 1.45lbs.

Ya'll need to have the co-angler take your photo with the fish.  These selfies are beyond terrible!

Fishing with a regular ol' jig is not my strong suit, so that's why every once in a while, like today,  I try to use one exclusively, mainly to keep my jig skills up, but also because I like how a jig bite feels. There is one particular black/blue jig with which I sometimes have some success, and I tend to pick that one out of my box if I can find it in the jumble of silicone tendrils.  I don't know what brand it is, the paint and eyes are long gone, the skirt is ragged and mostly missing, it has a bent wire trailer keep, but it works. With the help of a Rage craw and a hook sharpener, this 5 pound 10 oz fat bellied beast was tricked by that old jig this evening. I do believe that old lure has a few more lunkers still in its future.

Went out Tuesday in between storms, 41 degree air temp, 49.2 degree water temp and didn't get a bite. Took this flick of the competition who's been working the area in front of the dock for at least three weeks now.... and I know he's on fish. I did get to watch another sea lion feed on a 6+ pound bass. So I for one appreciate the photos of what everyone's been catching. Continued good fishing, JB

I often fish alone. What should I do, hire a photographer?

I'm in the same situation. It'd be nice to have even an occasional fishing partner, but I often prefer to keep to my own agenda and my erratic work hours regulate me to that anyhow.

Caught this 7 pounder on a large berkley grass pig. I let it hit the bottom and as soon as I lifted my rod tip she was on - must have landed right in front of it. Caught the speck on a chug bug during a nice topwater bite, same day different lake.

Your already catching bass on topwater and crankbaits?! Lucky, the ice just came off up here and today's most productive lure was a micro jig intended for panfish.:(

When you catch a monster like that in a little neighborhood pond it make you wonder what is swimming around in a continent of water like Toledo Bend.

Cranks never stop here, Ive caught them in 38* mornings last year. Top water I don't do much of it just felt right to throw one and that hefty girl was right there to grab it. I don't know how you guys do it up north but fishing year round is great for my blood pressure lol.

Just about every pond down here has 5+ lbers in it. Just a matter of figuring them out... Love it.
