That's my kind of striper fishing right there, friend.

I may not even be striper fishing, but I lost something that felt huge in the area a week ago. So I’m imagining it was a striper and trying to feed it a skipjack herring, it works about once every 5 years haha

Was a time not too many years ago when I only threw jerkbaits in clear water.  Thanks in part to @quanjig, I don't hesitate to use them in murky stuff.

Pre spawn, pre storm...jerk bite was good yesterday.

I think jerkbaits are good

Got 3 on a jerkbait today before a backlash sent my bait into the lake. Best, pictured, was 2.25lbs. I did not see others catching LMB, many boats coming in with blue cats and white bass.

Almost white little pond bass out of East TN. Caught him on a Keitech and underspin. It’s about time to get back on the lake.

Got out Sunday and enjoyed the first warmer day after being stuck back in winter the last few days. Caught them on a little bit of everything (except any kind of lipped crankbait for whatever reason), but Ned ruled the day. Jerkbait, lipless, spinnerbait, shakyhead, and a Tokyo rig all caught fish. Caught one pretty decent one on the Tokyo rig with a Spro Pintail worm.

Of the 20-25 fish I put in the boat, 75% of them were on a Ned though, including the big one of the day at 4.20lbs.

Another weekend with another wicked front blowing through. Water temps down 5-6 degrees since last time out. Figured they would have moved back to deeper water. Had a plan to work a back pocket at far end of the lake where the water should be warmer. I actually Wasn’t expecting much action until I picked up a small one on my third cast. Decided to stick to my plan and picked up a decent 2 pounder on a tube. C1F2BFD3-33ED-4BC7-B45F-FE08A81EE911.thumb.jpeg.c3a8b2fe6e888fa19f6a872cd8801a5b.jpegStruggled a bit after that but wanted to try out some new setups so I accomplished that at least. Went back to spot I caught the first one and this girl crushed the mojo rig. 47F8CC80-7F76-42ED-9D23-5B449524174E.thumb.jpeg.f22219e83f199cf966737e7a3a3e4638.jpegReally like the new 1 power Dobyns for the mojo rig. Little lighter action worked just like I hoped. Rod loaded into backbone nicely with plenty of power to handle this 2.75 pounder.

Maaaan I had a big ole girl follow my jerkbait on a foul cast, got right up to shore and then swam off when she saw me. I was so focused on getting my lure back that I didn't realize she was there or I would have paused and maybe caught a PB...
Naturally this happens as I have to leave, and the thing I left for has been delayed by an hour...after I arrive. irritation level 100. gonna go back out there tonight and see if I can find somewhere to cast. the lake is crowded with spring breakers at the moment, the first time i've had elbows on a weekday in a while

I figured I would post up some other fish from Spring Break. Ya'll, I struggled fishing over break. Skunking plagued me. Really could not get much going and I missed too many bites. But I had an absolutely wonderful time fishing. I lived on the water, fishing a ton every day, and I was learning constantly. This is the best I have responded in this sport to coming short of what I wanted, because I know my time is coming. It just didn't happen then. But, I did get a few more fish! So figured I'd post em up.

And... its open season here where I am in NY. Everything is thawed :). Life is good.

Spring time is for amateurs anyway! Looks like you did well

I think jerkbaits are good

We had a line of severe weather roll through which cleared us all out for a bit. I managed to get back to the ramp as the back side of the front was rolling in, and it paid off.

Another 2.5ish, followed quickly by a 4.75. The larger girl really inhaled that thing - all three trebles hooked inside the mouth. Took me a minute to get them all out but she swam off all angry as desired. I had her out of the water a while so my photos were not the best...my focus was elsewhere. I was making a very dumb*** face lmaoooo

Best fishing I've had this year, in terms of total weight average per fish. I think spring is good.

May have had the best night fishing in quite a while. Started off with this girl on an EZ Shiner…549A8B9B-198E-46DE-8B0D-67B65CF595B9.thumb.jpeg.e39849326bcb36b8c93271a332ab0397.jpegBut better than that was watching this guy beat me with 5 fish to my 4…53571417-189B-40CA-8155-099BBF3E4E71.thumb.jpeg.ccdaa8c597b7e3c9eb6209c8b2271d73.jpegEAC3695C-3467-422C-B858-1F472A39E1B5.thumb.jpeg.9054097a588617daf0abdc47c5f7e674.jpegHis biggest of the night was right at 2 lbs all on a 3” blue / black rage swimmer. He picked those out of my paddle tail box and I sort of chuckled because I don’t think I’ve ever caught anything on them. He hasn’t wanted to fish with me much the last year because “senko fishing is boring” but we had a blast and he wants to go again on Thursday. Good to have my fishing buddy back from the world of iPads and Fortnite.
Just for the record, I did catch the largest at 2.25 on the bait he picked and almost burning it back that he also figured out and clued me in on…61A8CCCF-AC6C-4EA8-BE28-E0B7E85DF836.thumb.jpeg.db52f6258b4f3cc8ee7fb617a1723e49.jpeg

The lonely consolation fish. I was only out there an hour and a half to begin with - I had three good strikes. The first one would have easily been my heaviest fish of the year and felt like a solid 6-9lbs of something...not even sure it was a bass as I never saw it and it never surfaced. It kicked hard twice at the bank like a cat does sometimes. An absolutely devastating blow to morale as it bent a hook out while I was fumbling with my net. The next one was this lil dude. The third one happened on a slack pause and I didn't realize it was there...it came unhooked as I was pulling it out of the water.

I went back out after sunset and listened to the guys on the dock with live bait and green lights reeling them in. Caught nothing, went home. Gonna practice the new leader knot I learned today and just remember to keep my dang thumb off the spool when I hook into something good. Gonna go get em tomorrow though.

In all seriousness today was a total beatdown - just total failure in everything I did, save for things like breathing and cursing. There was plenty of BS outside of fishing today, I was really hoping it wouldn't spill over. But sometimes that happens.

I take pride in the fact that I did not give up or quit at any of the things I did though. Also nobody died. We'll get back at it in the morning. A yet still more glorious dawn awaits. It's gonna be a good day.

Went out on public water in Virginia  yesterday and posted a 29.25 lb mega bag! 12 ounces shy of a DIRTY 30! All big baits on a lake that gets tons of pressure! A whole new level has been achieved for my bass fishing journey! I’m so jacked!
