Windy and in the low 50's when I walked out the door at work a little after 6am. Went home to get the boat and got to the ramp right at 7. I was hoping to get into some wipers but for some reason they haven't shown up this year. The bass were willing though and I kept my eyes on the shoreline for baits as I went along. Caught between 15-20 bass, mostly on a Ned but a few on my homemade compact spinnerbait also. Biggest was a 4.09 on the Ned. Found some baits along the way also. i would like to have the rock crawler back please, i remember losing it there. 1 4 Quote
The Bassman Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I've caught some quality fish lately though my numbers have been way down. This one came from the same pond and shoreline location as one I posted last weekend. Thought it may be the same fish but could see some slight differences when I compared pics. edit: Just realized that top pic was one from earlier today, probably closer to three lbs. Six pounder may in fact be the same fish from last week. 14 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted November 27, 2021 Super User Posted November 27, 2021 I got one more big one today on my last day here in NC before going back to the cold, dark north. This one measured 21 1/4". Very slow retrieve with a senko weightless texas rigged. I used similar retrieve in the postspawn for big ones on the same pond. 20 Quote
thediscochef Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 It's a pretty morning, a nice 2.25lb was the large of the morning. I love the coloration in this fish. Going to hit a pond this afternoon to see if I can get something there too. I hope all yall had a great Thanksgiving and weekend 15 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 29, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 29, 2021 Had a day today! We got to spend basically an entire day on the water. Took my buddy and his son out, tried the offshore spots although we thought water temps were still too high (56-58). Luckily we aren’t fish and they were in the winter spots ! We boated 5-6 nice ones, the youngster with the biggest at 21.5” (his new biggest bass). We also lost 3-4 fish in this spot including one fairly beastly one I brought up to the boat and my buddy grabbed the line and it jumped off. He felt worse than I did about it haha. We also ran way up river and caught 3 more small fish and one decent one fishing shallower on stumps. Tried offshore on the way back in but the wind was picking up after all day of slick calm so we called it. Even a little yellow bass and spotted bass rode home with me for dinner 23 Quote

We are having unseasonably warm weather here so me and a buddy are going to an ice less pond tomorrow looking for crappies. Hopefully some fillets in my future. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted November 29, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 29, 2021 Went to a lake I never fish this late in the year with a couple guys from my kayak club on Saturday. It was not great. Pedaled about 5 miles and ended up catching 9 bass all by the ramp right before I left. They were not large. Caught a ton of drum and a couple big white bass. The highlight of the day was accidentally snagging this thing in the dorsal fin with a #5 shad rap on a ML spinning rod and 8lb test. Drug me around in the yak for about 10 minutes. It weighed 24.21lbs and was probably a little over 30" long. 15 Quote

Caught me a muskie and a sucker. Nice! True Fact: My wife is from Fergus Falls. We fished a couple of the lakes in the area years ago for bluegill, but haven't been back in a long time after her parents moved away. There's so much fishable water in that area, it's hard to know where I'd start if we went back! 1 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted November 29, 2021 Super User Posted November 29, 2021 Walked to a pond this afternoon only to find it completely covered in skim ice. Turned around and walked a different direction to the deepest pond I have access to - it was all open water. Was able to pick off a handful of bass on Ned before calling it. Small warm up in the forecast for later this week. Hoping to get out a time or two, maybe even get the boat out. This was the best of bunch today. 20 Quote

A yellow bass looks like a small white bass but it has a yellowish tint to the sides. We have several lakes here in Northwest Iowa that are full of them..routinely catch them when I'm up visiting my parents. Good eats! 1 1 Quote

Nope - yellow bass is a separate species...closer to white bass and striped bass than LMB or SMB. Ken the Aquatic Bio major. 1 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted November 30, 2021 Super User Posted November 30, 2021 Well isn’t that odd. I’ve never even heard of it until now. It does kinda look like a white bass with a yellowish hue though. Quote

I also encountered a yellow perch that day, because a smallmouth barfed it. I know what you’re thinking and yes I used it as bait (but got stuck and lost it ) 2 Quote

Ya you know what I'm thinking but some things are just better of not being said again. The horse already died, no use trying to beat it anymore. Quote
JWall14 Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Great week of fishing during Thanksgiving break. All fish came on an A rig, which is one of my favorite ways to catch lake fish. Best 5 all week went for 19.5, and best 5 in a day went for 17.5lbs. I had a 5-6lber come off as i was flipping it which would have put us over 20lbs easily. 20 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 1, 2021 Global Moderator Posted December 1, 2021 This nice weather has to end eventually, but I'm sure enjoying it while I can. Getting out and catching fish from the kayak after work the last day of November is pretty sweet. 16 Quote
