Super User LrgmouthShad Posted October 9, 2021 Super User Posted October 9, 2021 Wow. I really don’t like strong wind. I had to go to plan c today. Oneida was far too windy for me in the kayak so later in the day I picked up and went to a random smaller reservoir I’ve never been to based on some quick research. Was still quite windy there but at least bearable. Eeked out four bass, three on spinnerbaits. One on a swimbait not shown. One pic sideways ?. I still haven’t figured out the trick to uploading via phone. Any tips welcome. 13 Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 So proud of my little man today! We've been wanting to take a deep Miami peacock trip for years but due to me always working 6-7 days a week, we never had the time. It's a 3.5 hr drive for us. Well I finally got the promotion and transfer at work I've been working for and now only work 4-5 days a week. I finally got to take him! We struggled to find them early on but around 2pm we finally got on them good. Not only did he out fish me but he caught the biggest of the day as well. I've never felt such a hard fighting fish pound for pound! 20 Quote

Holetail Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 Been on the dink train lately but this guy wins the award for smallest and dumbest bass I’ve caught lately. Tossed him back twice and he swam onto the bank both times. Finally tossed him out further and he swam off unharmed. Been working on fishing the Ned so expecting some smaller fish, but hoping I can get into some bigger ones than this. 9 1 Quote

Jmurphy87 Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 Nothing special two tiny one's along with a tiny perch on a perch jerkbait lol. Had one more small bass on the jerkbait but he came off right at the front of the kayak and I had a pipsqueak come off also. I have to say it was one of those day's, fishing normally relaxes me not today though. Probably a little over a foot swells at times today made standing and fishing in the kayak fun. Two lakes I have not been out on with a vessel of sorts in years. I didn't get skunked and only threw my tiny jerkbait in one tree, got it back at least not very much room in the tiny channel. 15 Quote
gunsinger Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 My wife was hosting a “bridesmaid dress try on” party this afternoon so I was forced to go fishing. Poor me. I started out with a couple of nibbles that didn’t pan out. Switched to a shaky head with a pumpkin/chart yum dinger. A few casts later, I feel a tap. I set the hook and up comes a 4lber. She opens her mouth and out comes my bait. That was the second time in two days I’d lost a decent fish on that set up. When I checked he bait, the hook hadn’t even gotten exposed, both times. I decided maybe that’s why most videos suggest a trick worm. That yum dinger just may be too thick for a shaky head. Anyway , I figure the worm is working, even if the rig isn’t. So, I switch he worm to my Texas rig pole. 4 casts later, I set the hook on this girl. 24” long, she weighed in at 6.54 lbs. This is my new PB. I only caught one other this night; but, I didn’t care. 22 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 11, 2021 Global Moderator Posted October 11, 2021 Fished Truman Lake in Missouri for the first time in almost a decade in preparation for a kayak tournament later this month. It was, not great, but I would have had a decent limit and I figured out a little bit of a pattern in one area and didn't try to milk it so who knows how that would have turned out if I'd really tried to hammer on them. 19 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted October 12, 2021 Super User Posted October 12, 2021 I got a smallmouth! *Does a happy dance*. That one's the second photo. These pictures are from the past two days. I fished Lake Otisco, one of the finger lakes, for the first time and that was a lot of fun. Very beautiful countryside and green water. Nothing too crazy over the past couple days but I'm always happy to be out there. I really don't know when I'll stop throwing spinnerbaits. 22 Quote

The Baron Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Buddy and I took another swing at Weslemkoon Lake. This lake should produce some good smallmouth, and we’re hoping to find some after many failed attempts through the summer and early fall. It didn’t work out, with nothing to show but a handful of small ones. But, the weather was beautiful… and you do have to appreciate how every smallmouth self-identifies as a badass. ? 15 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Glad to see people catching fish. My place of employment has been imploading from within. Which, has caused a lot of OT. Also been looking for another job . Sooooooo…. I’ve only been out once over the last month and caught one sheep head and smallie. Only thing worth taking a pic of was this little smallie from the titabawassee river about 2 weeks ago. Caught on a Berkeley black blue flake ribbon worm. I only went out due to calling in and being po’d from work. Hoping the decent weather holds before and after deer season. 13 Quote
TheBasslayer Posted October 14, 2021 Posted October 14, 2021 I got these 2 fish today while wading the stream by my grandmas house. It feels good catching some fish again while wading! 15 Quote
