I'm still learning...I've only been throwing it a couple years. Thinking of expanding to more than just the TRDs..trying to decide what baits to add to the Ned line up.

You don’t need a ton of different ones, but should play around in the beginning to see what each does and how well a particular style works on your waters. I check new versions out, but routinely only stock and throw about 5 or 6 styles that will do most everything I need.

The best way to learn open water/deep water bass fishing in many places is by starting with crappie. I used to only fish them after tourney season ended, but once I stopped tourney fishing, I’ve been able to fish them year round. I’ve caught over 3200 so far this year already. Shooting for 5k by Dec 31 ?

A few decent bass today on a shaky head and 5.5" Grande Airtail worm (Daiwa Alphas SV105/Kistler KLX).

So besides the TRD what are a few must haves in your opinion?

Had to try out my new Okuma ITX despite working way too much OT the last few days so I stopped after work yesterday to make a few cast. Caught 2 warmouth and 3 bass. One bass had someone else's worm hook protruding from it's gills.

The water in this creek was really clear and I got to sight fish this one.

I thought you had some kind of crazy double hook rig for a second. lol

Were you able to remove the other hook, or was it still stuck?

Got out today about 1-5. High fast water and wind gusts to 20+ made for  a tough day but managed to put 6 in the boat; 2 on a Spinnerbait and 4 on a tx.Rig yum wooly bug with 1 of those the best of the day at 3-11.

Appreciate the kind words @LrgmouthShad but im really just a puddle jumpin' shallow water chunk and grind hack who happens to hit one on the head every now and then. Theres many more talented and accomplished fishermen on this site than me.

Spent a few days at my parents place in Elliot Lake, On. chasing smallmouth. The bass in this area are for the most part completely untouched, as most people around the area fish for trout or walleye. Didn’t get as many as usual with the major cold front that showed up on the first day. But we still got quite a few and some decent ones as well.

Went for a solo trip this morning for some largemouth. Started out slow with mostly light blowups and slashes at the frog, but after an hour the wind picked up a bit and the bite turned on. Got a dozen decent ones with a couple 4lbers and one right at 5. Even got two 3s on back to back casts at the same 10’ diameter patch of pads.

Hadn't been out in a while but had to make sure I squeezed in a trip before sending my daughter off to college. Lake is getting ridiculously low again, loses a foot or more every couple days, and is now down 161 feet from full pool. Definitely need a wet snowy winter out here.

Anyhow, trip was a lot of fun and it was great making some memories. Best bait for us was a 2.8 or 3.3 on a 3/16 head.

She was struggling to catch anything over 10" and then on her last cast, boom, biggest fish of the day.

Awesome seeing her get the only decent fish of the day and it being a walkoff.

Good times!!!

Fished the Shiawassee and saginaw rivers. Not much in the bass front to day but, did land this nice 29 inch northern pike.  Caught on a bps black/blue flake curly tail worm.  Also caught about a dozen 13-14 inch bass

I think the pike are starting to put the feed bag on trying to get fat for the winter.  Historically this is the time of year I catch more numerous and bigger pike

She went way north up to Montana. I'm going to have to dust off my fly rods when I go back to visit. ?

The dam is something like 625 ft high, which seems pretty crazy when you think about it while you're fishing the riprap right along it. Thankfully the river channel is steep and deep, so there are still a lot of places that have over 300 ft of water.

Got out early this AM and was rewarded with a dink fest. Got 5 on the fluke but also got 3 on the bitsy bug. Even dinks love the jig!! Think I’m starting figure out this jig fishing. 69E6540B-ACC0-456E-B6B4-207AE5294778.thumb.jpeg.6a49489439cf4f98ecf44cdcedd473f3.jpegStill sure I’m missing bites, but gaining confidence.

Dinkfest. That’s the place I’ve been for the last couple of weeks. Nothing picture worthy. 7 yesterday and the longest MAY have reached 12” if I stretched him.
