keagbassr Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Got out today from 8-12:30. Got 5 decent 2+ lb'ers punching and 1 lone wolf on a choppo that weighed 4-4. One side note; my last fish came when I was heading in and decided to finally play around with the big bite baits big mamma. I got 3 hits on it finally landing the 3rd after letting it run a bit. It weighed 2-4. Not a pig but gives me some hope that i cant throw it with some confidence. Anyway the 4-4. 19 Quote
Jmurphy87 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Definitely nothing from my hour out this evening. I tried my local park was busy, all my normal good spots were covered unfortunately except one. It was a little bit early in the night for there but I tried anyhow. Only got one strike bouncing my x zone craw of some sorts off the bottom of the pads I was fishing. That put me down one appendage, I don’t think it had it enough to even set the hook. Didn’t feel like it to me but I could be wrong, that was my first mistake. Kept trying a couple of vacant spots nothing. It’s getting dark now I am getting frustrated, second mistake. I decided to make a last ditch effort at one of the hardest spots on the lake to fish in the light of day let alone the dark. Tiny narrow gap that allows you to stand back from a drainage pipe and make a pitch in can’t really cast here not enough room. Stand back from the pipe 6-10 feet make the perfect pitch in the dark lands right in the juice. Can’t see now only feel, this is where I make my third and final mistake sealing the deal on the ?. Feels heavy I can’t tell if I am in the bush dead in front of me or if it’s a fish. It was a fish feel the tension increase. By this time it’s too late feel it come off that’s all she wrote for the night ? Moral of the story keep persevering it’s not over till it is when you get frustrated force yourself to slow down or you might miss your only opportunity for victory. At least I learned that my knowledge of how to get on them at spots other than my preferred ones is still accurate and that’s invaluable ? next time hopefully I can seal the deal, good luck and have a great night. 6 1 Quote

Biglittle8 Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Fishing has been terrible lately. Tons of dinks. My biggest fish in a while has been in the 2.5lb range. I did lose two really nice fish right at the boat one day. The heat is killing me lately, it's in the 90's at 10am....I'm getting old I guess. 14 Quote

So hot and muggy that it’s not even enjoyable to fish. Ready for fall to get them biting again! Quote

When I get a 20" smallie here, they're usually over 4 and even had one go 5 at that length. Quote

I didn’t have my scale on me. Just guesstimating on weight, I always guess low the biggest was probably close to if not over 4. 1 Quote

Super User NHBull Posted August 19, 2021 Super User Posted August 19, 2021 Grandsons first solo (put worm on, cast, land) fish. Not need to teach him how to go through the gills to get a gut hooked fish off? 21 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted August 20, 2021 Super User Posted August 20, 2021 Finished the week with 50 bass today from a short trip around a local pond - all on a mushroom head jig and one Zman plastic bait; and it will probably catch at least 50 more - lol. Biggest today went just about 16 inches, so nothing great size wise - just great fun. Might see just how many fish I can catch on that single Zman bait as a fun side project. Not sure what my record is, so this might set a PB standard for me in that category. I'll update here in this reports thread if I decide to do it That makes 127 bass in the past 7 days walking the banks on the days I fished but didn't take the boat out. One rod - one reel - and just a zipper bag of baits and terminal tackle stuffed in a pocket. Mobility rules from the bank. Don't over complicate it. 13 Quote
nhpleasantlakebass Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Kid smoked them skipping docks this afternoon. 17 total in 2 hours. 12 we’re dinks under a lb, 5 over 2 lbs biggest went 3.2. I played captain on the trolling motor to get him positioned perfectly. 15 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Got out for a couple hours after work tonight. Hammered about 30 of these guys, most on a popper, and a few on a Tokyo rigged Maxscent creature hawg. 19 Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted August 20, 2021 Super User Posted August 20, 2021 Stopped off at a local shallow puddle for a quick one and nabbed a few carbon copy midgets on a Fat IKA, but a kid fishing nearby got to dance with the belle of the ball. 26" donk! 23 Quote
TriStateBassin106 Posted August 20, 2021 Posted August 20, 2021 Some of my recent adventures, first two fish are from my old pond that suffered a fish kill 3 years ago but got restocked recently. Fish aren't the biggest but are growing fast! 18 Quote
Super User gim Posted August 20, 2021 Super User Posted August 20, 2021 I had the best day of the season so far today. My Father and I landed 27 largemouth and 7 pike in about 5 hours, including several tanks. The highlight of the day were 20 and 20 3/4 inchers I caught about 30 minutes apart, both the biggest largies I've caught this season. 20 Quote
keagbassr Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Been a long 11 months since i dropped the boat in Maine to chase some smallies. Got out today from 11:30 - 5:30 boated 12, 2 on a buzzbait, 4 on a popper and 6 on a R2S big mistake including the biggest that was 3-1. 17 Quote
throttleplate Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 rained like a dam broke on me but waders and frog toggs kept me bone dry. Low light into the evening and dirty water made me think black/red spinner with a good ole black mr twister grub trailer. 7 hours ago, gimruis said: I had the best day of the season so far today. Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 21, 2021 Super User Posted August 21, 2021 Got on water a bit later than usual. Didn’t get 5’ from shore and started getting peppered with calls from work, then found out dinner plans with friends morphed into lunch. Felt like I was in and out of the water in a blink lol. Caught one decent bass on a Whopper Plopper. 16 Quote
