Nothing with any size to it but the males were destroying that dark sleeper.

Little fella but the first topwater fish of the year still felt pretty great.

Caught my new personal best yesterday! Was fishing Lake Kissimmee and flipping with a 3/4oz in some pads with a Jackall Archelon in black and blue. Fish measured at 24" long and 18" girth. I would guess she was around 9lbs and would have loved to see her a month or so ago during spawn but still very thankful.

The better part was also that this lake had been kicking our butt and been really tough on us. Yesterday we caught more fish than our last three trips there combined so it was a great day.

Put those dimensions in the fish weight calculator and it comes out at 10.16lbs FWIW.

Caught this “whatever” on a XZone True Center Stick in Carolina Pumpkin Black Flake set up as a Neko rig.

spacer.pngI think it may be a spotted bass, but not sure.

It's just a lightly colored largemouth. Close that mouth and watch the jawline extend past the eye and you'll have no doubts.

I did at the time. The jaw did not extend past the eye. Not even close. Much smaller in diameter than normal for a LMB as well.

You have to push the jaw up. The diameter of the fish has nothing to do with IDing them. It's a largemouth without a doubt. Once you've seen a bunch they really don't look very similar. NorcalBassins little topwater fish is a spot for example.

I was referring to the diameter of the mouth, not the body of the bass. The mouth was noticeably smaller than any similar-sized LMB that I’ve ever caught.

Sorry got lots of pictures . Went camping this weekend to an awesome spot in the mountains. Good fish, food, and friends. I figured here was as good a place for the pictures as any.

Great fishing this morning, Carolina Craw colored jig tipped with a Paca craw was the hot lure today. Caught a few on Carolina Craw chatterbait also. One nice one on a wacky rig (first picture) first cast with my new spinning rig... Dobyns rod with a Shimano reel! The turtle attacked a 4"Lucky Craft SP 100 ?

Some of my most recent catches. One with red fin I believe had recently been on a bed. Bass with the red fin was 21 inches long and the bottom Bass was 19 inches. It had on the other side of it very fresh and angry looking gashes as if it had got nicked by a trolling motor. But it was still out there doing typical Bass things and utterly destroyed a bluegill(legal bait in Alabama) so that one gets extra 'spect put on it from me.

I did lose what probably would have been a 5lber when it got wrapped around a dock post, but I feel like these as a group made up for it.

Also believe I caught my PB in terms of tiniest Bass as well.

Gotta share the runts with the good'uns right? ?

One sign of a good day of bass fishing: thumb all  gritted up from the teeth. "Bass thumb" as it is often called.

Wow lol. How on earth did it even get the hook in its mouth?

I used a super small cricket hook and somehow I was able to hook him. Definitely one of the smallest fish I have ever caught lol

Went for a hour or so. Caught two on a spinnerbait and craw, and missed two on a Neko Macho weightless TR. Nothing of any size but my first spinnerbait catches this year.

spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

Not sure what spinnerbait it was. I don’t know how you guys keep track of all your lures lol. I think the craw was a 4” Strike King Rage Craw.

Pretty interesting situation developing here, saw my first bed bass today but got spooked the minute he saw me approaching, cranked the shoreline with a kvd 1.5 shallow in chart black back and missed a small fish then immediately switched to a Texas rig craw and casted in the same spot and THUMP...for a 1.7lber he fought pretty hard. All my recent fish have had fat guts and I don't know if they're eggs or food hahaha.

I'd give it a week and the fish are on beds.

But I catch plenty of them fishing for bass too.

And probably my finest catch, on a Deps SS 175 on Beaver Lake, AR.

None of the fish I posted are crappie. The top is a largemouth, middle and bottom are both smallmouth.
