A 9lb brown bass is a Very Rare fish.

I have several over 6 and my PB is a 7.29.

But I often fish the same 'water' that the state record came from,

so I suppose anything is possible . . .

Amazing!  A 7 pounder is a rare brown bass as well, we don't have any down here!  I love seeing your pictures of these huge smallies!

A brown bass is a rare fish around me! Think I caught 2 last year. The ponds I fish have some in them but I never seem to find them...consistently anyway.

congrats on the 3 and 4 pound smallies.  If you used a scale I would get it checked.

I agree I got to get that scale calibrated but I guarantee you they were more than three or four pounds

Hello all! It’s been awhile since I have posted, lots of family health issues and working crazy hours, things have finally died down and I hope to keep back on here as much as possible. The best thing though is the water is warming up and bass are moving in! Past 4 days have been epic! Between 50-60 bass caught each day and broke my new record smallie! Weighed in at 6 pounds 6 oz !!! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the reason has in store.

Yes it is.. very few know how to fish this area correctly (or at least from what I seen) so it’s nice to be able to catch these gorgeous fish! Jsut so happens my very first cast of the year and the very first fish of the year was the 6 lb 6 oz PB. TALK ABOUT EXCITMENT.

Great fishing today! First time I saw females and males both on beds! Caught the fish in the picture casting a jerkbait onto his bed, he crushed it as soon as it hit the water. Lost 3 nice fish in the 3 to 4 lb range. Was trying to catch a big female off her bed, she wouldn't bite anything. Nor would the male. I tried jerkbait, swimbait, texas rig and even dinged her in the head with a jig! She would swim in circles around the bed then come back to sit. I would estimate her to be in the 7 to 8lb range.  The male was a large beat up fish. I'll try again tomorrow!

Something small in the bed and just leave it there. Takes allot of patience. Pic if you get her.

Decided to use the rage tail cut-r. Had a huge blow up app 8 feet from the bank 5 minutes after starting. I just cane - poled the fish in. Had 2 -3 long follows, had 1 clobber it and let go, and probably the biggest fish bit all but 1 inch off the bait. Caught another one that picked it up off the bottom...

Went out last Thursday after hearing a big splash - wanted to see if we have a gator. Couldn’t find anything  so cruised over and chatted with few different neighbors out on their docks enjoying the evening (I was making a circle around the lake). Last neighbor -2 houses to left of ours -and I had just finished a conversation about his new duck chic.  Decided to cast a shallow diver in a clear pocket of weeds. It sank a little- gave soft short tug then felt soft pullback. Set the hook and IT WAS ON!!!  Yelled Fish On! and Bobby started back down the hill. Knew it was a big one as drag was being stripped and my little 10’ plastic boat started moving towards the deep! Then it turned me towards shallow!!  Ohhh if I could keep her on and wear her down I might be able to land her!   Heart racing and blood pumping I hung on and remembered NO SLACK! TIGHT LINE!! DON’T LET HER THROW YOU!!  After the Most Exciting 5-8 minutes she was near the boat.  Lipped HER in, “BOBBY I NEED PICTURES!! He says “Don’t have my phone “. “WELL GO GET IT!!!”  He ran up hill and returned ???. Meanwhile I broke my old tackle box lid by ripping it open to get scale. Weighed in my New PB @ 8.2 Pounds!!!  She was 2” longer than my 24” scale too!! Released her safely back to her home ???. Barely had rear treble hook in her mouth at this point so was easy to get out and very little damage ???

Funny the difference a week makes. Not any interest in plain Keitechs but they were on the underspin.

Ran into an unexpected school of some serious slabs. Can't remember the last time I caught crappie this big.

Nothing beats a swim jig the last few days, Thursday was an epic day with 9 fat girls over 18" with this one looking the heaviest and coming in at 23".  Funny thing is later I was reeling in a 3.5lber on a A rig and a massive girl followed her to the boat trying to steal the lure.  Absolute largest bass I've ever seen outside of BPS tanks, she was definitely the PB that got away without even biting....
