Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 10, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 10, 2021 Warmest day in the 10 day forecast for me is 25*, only 1 other day in that span over 20*. Real winter has reared it's ugly head. Bad thing is I can't even go lure hunting because it's snowing too ? Quote
Aaron_H Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 No PBs for me yet this spawn, but got a few good ones. Landed this healthy 6lb 10oz girl this afternoon just after 3 PM today in central FL. She was feeding shallow, got her on a bluegill pattern 1/2 oz Rattlin' Rapala lipless crankbait. I don't like to play fish too long with treble hooks, but she did not want to come in. Had her up to the bank 4 times and she would just rip drag and run back out deep. Finally got her wore down enough to land on the 5th try. Took a quick weight and picture, and she swam off strong! She ended up being the biggest bass of the day (and my biggest of 2021 so far), but right before I left I landed a 7lb 2oz tilapia. That was a drag screamer, too. This is the time of year they get super aggressive and will hit artificials, very fun fight and an underrated game fish IMO. 27 Quote

My current PB is 8lb 10oz, less than a pound away from the IGFA world record. We'll see if I can inch closer to that record this year.... 15 Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted February 10, 2021 Super User Posted February 10, 2021 National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch through 12:00 tomorrow. The forecast calls for 3/8" - 1/2" of ice. Temperatures are expected to drop to 11*. Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted February 10, 2021 Super User Posted February 10, 2021 Yep. Teens and 20s here at night for the next 2 weeks, minimum. Hopefully we'll get blasted with more snow soon. Anything to refill our springs/waters back up. The drought last year blew up our tried and true patterns. Snow dances during the day, snow prayers before bed. Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted February 10, 2021 Super User Posted February 10, 2021 I had an overcast day with air temperature in the low 60’s, water right around 51 and a few trees around the neighborhood and local orchards with flowers starting to pop. First rod I picked up to start off with had a crankbait I tied on as an afterthought. It was the ticket for some dark green bass, the biggest going 3.0lbs that hit right at the boat. 19 Quote

AFAIK they haven't made it up the Tennesee River. 19 hours ago, roadwarrior said: National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch through 12:00 tomorrow. Might get to go tomorrow. Haven't looked that far ahead yet. 1 Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 Had some snow in the morning at the house but the weather treated us well for the quick trip to the lake. Just 5 fish in 3 hours with a rare skunk for Pops, and all they seemed interested in was a Neko rig. This chubby fella had a lot more girth than length. All the fish looked really well fed which I take as a good sign heading into spring. Decent spot that fought a lot bigger than he was. 10 Quote
