Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 5, 2020 Super User Posted July 5, 2020 Topwater bite has been great this 4th of July weekend. The Rebel Pop-R with VMC hybrid hooks was putting in overtime. When I noticed Sunfish taking swipes at it I switched to a Storm Hopper Popper and caught them and a Smallmouth. 12 Quote
keagbassr Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 After yesterdays 3 hour pre-work tour left me wanting more i went right back there after work today hoping the bidding frog bite I left was still on. While i only boated 2 in 3.5 hours they were well worth it as they weighed 3-6 and 6-2 which technically is my biggest frog fish although it was caught on the old moss mouse. She was feisry as all heck made getting a good pic tough. 17 Quote
BigAngus752 Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 My first fish of the day was a one-eyed pirate bass! It just so happens that I was fishing a cooling lake for a nuke plant today....coincidence? LOL 12 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted July 6, 2020 Super User Posted July 6, 2020 Had a few show up during a family get-together in Wisconsin over the 4th: 12 Quote

Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 6, 2020 Super User Posted July 6, 2020 The Smallmouth were biting everything today. Caught them on in-line spinners, Rebel Craw and Hellgrammite, tiny child rig and Yum Dingers. This one was the best today. As I was reeling it in there was one double it’s size following it. Got a great release vid of him as well. 9 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 7, 2020 Global Moderator Posted July 7, 2020 Did an after work trip this morning my yak to the local mud puddle. Only 56 acres but I paddled from the ramp on one end to as far up the creek as I could go, it was a lot further than I thought it would be, but I knew there would be fish at the very back of that creek where the water runs in and I was right! Even if it was only 1 fish ? Crazy to see that super clear water back there when the rest of the lake has a couple inches of visibility. Big fish of the morning was a 3.89 and ate a black and blue homemade bladed jig in some grass like most the rest of my fish did. 15 Quote
Mbirdsley Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 Fished the maple today for my bday ( it was yesterday) and made my yearly trip to this awesome river. Caught about 24 large mouth bass ( most were legal) 1 really nice smallie( didn’t know small mouth were in there), 2 dog fish ( woof woof), a huge crappie, and a hammer handle pike. Most came on t-rigged berkly havoc craw fatty, than black and blue flake chigger craw, and my black and blue swim jig I make. The craw fattys were a fluke I bought a pack last year and could never get them to work. I nailed the first bass on the black/blue flake chigger craw. I’d prefer to save the chigger craws for the Tittabawassee. So I was looking for an excuse to get rid of the craw fatties so I though well if they will hit a chigger craw they should enjoy a craw fatty. They are just like a upsized chigger And boy did they!!!! I used every last one. So I caught fish and made room in my craw binder this Will be the last trip for a long time. New boat is to big to get down the maple. I can run wide open in the road runner. The river avg about 5 feet Here are the high lights This wasn’t my best photo session. The bright sun made it hard to see my screen 13 Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted July 9, 2020 Super User Posted July 9, 2020 Been a tough hot stretch of fishing these last couple weeks and it only looks like it's going to get hotter. It has been 16 days since I have caught one over 3lbs, feels like it has been 2 years though. I finally found a couple today that were worthy of a picture. A big mouth skinny 4-1 and a nice healthy 4-4. Both caught on a baby brush hog in sprayed grass (maybe my new favorite color aside from gp). 11 Quote
PeteFin Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 He was crushing them. 5 fish like that one in about an hour. Great memories with my boy! 15 Quote

Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 10, 2020 Super User Posted July 10, 2020 Fish structure they say. This Smallmouth took me on a joyride over and under this log before I was able to land him. Fantastic fight that really got my blood pumping. 17 Quote
