Nice Bass ~

And you're looking a little "Psycho" right there.

I mean more than usual.

I also got in a frog bite this eve , not as big as @jbsoonerfan fish but fun on @scaleface new favorite the ribbit frog. I had my buddy’s 8 year old with me (big camping group) and he had 3 blow up his frog and one broke him off. He says “can you believe he broke 8 lb line?” Hahahah. I showed him my 65 lb braid and he said that’s rope. It sure is fun fishing veg that we don’t have back home

Had a few minutes to stop and make a few casts on the way home from the office yesterday evening. Resulting in the weirdest hookset I've ever had.

I hadn't planned on doing any punching, and I was too lazy to swap out the swim jig I had tied on, but it did the job anyway. Poor little guy was at the tail end of 15 lb abraz-x tied to 50lb braid, and he came shooting up out of his brushpile like an ICBM when I set the hook.

Did some very careful surgery to get the hook out and saved the eye. Patient swam off none the worse for wear.

Love the Ribbit!  I scored a nice one last night on a similar tactic - Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Worm buzzed over emergent grass.

Interesting morning! Alarm goes off at 4:45 and I can see lightning . This was the only day it wasn’t supposed to rain on the week long trip. Crazy bad storm goes through, sitting in the tent for an hour anxious to get out and start fishing, especially after only catching one fish in 3 sessions yesterday (Wednesday). The boat is tied to a dock and my batteries were almost underwater. Finally get out and there’s a decent Shad spawn but yet again can’t get them to hit. I ran upriver to a really long slough full of cypress but the grass point looked too good to pass up. Hooked a ball of line, trying to extract from the water, and yet another 20lb horsefly starts eating me. I’m going to look like a pin cushion when I get home. Anyway, start frogging, nothing. Grass and cypress for miles, how is this possible. Go back to the tried and true from years ago on this trip, weightless hand pour Junebug stick worm up against cypress stumps. The second one I threw a small bass bites and jumps off. A clue! Then I boat a dink. Then I get stuck in a cypress and break a spinning rod out of frustration trying to rip it out. Cypress branches can be beyond frustrating at times. So I tie the stick worm onto the heavy rod with 65 braid. A few more stumps and the line is trucking off to the right. I don’t use braid often unless I’m in a swamp, so I’m not so used to it. I set the hook really hard and about broke my arm and lost grip of the rod! Haha. Somehow the fish is still on but has wrapped around another cypress. It jumps and I see it’s a nice fish, look down to grab the net and there’s a 5 gallon bucket with a cast net in it and 2 tackle boxes in the net! Somehow I land a 3 lb 4 oz largemouth, a blind hog finds an acorn every one else in a while! I’ve never been glad to break a rod but I was today, no way I land that thing on spinning gear and 10 lb mono

Apparently everything lined up perfectly for a swim jig bite, because I had quite the evening.  69° water, sun setting, ripping through emergent grass tops.  No monsters but a whole lot of respectable fish.  Also got a few on a U Vibe Worm, as shown above.

I finally get to show a Bass picture in this Bass forum!

Not even close to my PB which is a little less than 3 pounds.  This one came in at a mere 1.51 Pounds, but I get to show it off and tell a story.  I was trolling with the colorful minnow Crankbait that you can see in the picture. I was tired and sort of dozing off, but had my hand on the pole.  The bite woke me up and I quickly stood up, got a good hookset, stopped the motor and reeled it in.  I don't know whether I was topwater trolling, or using the deep diving, sideways action of the lure.  It was the first time that I had used it, and noticed that if I wanted the diving action while trolling, I had to angle the pole a certain way.

Will do buddy, we’ve got the rest of today and about 2 hours tomorrow morning before heading back. I haven’t caught many but there have been some nice ones. It’s only once every few years that I catch a 5 lb bass, needless to say I was hooting and hollering in a creek arm all alone hahaha

It's getting hot here in Oklahoma and the fish are lethargic and on a soft bite, you better be on your game to catch them. I was lucky enough to get a few to bite today including these 2 good ones. Nothing giant but a 4-01 and a 3-11.

I caught 2 Smallmouth on the Whopper Plopper today. This one was the best. I had two more that rolled on it and missed getting hooked. Sure does get the blood pumping!

Weeds are finally growing, so I broke out my Savage Gear weedless pulse tail bluegill. Not exactly what I was looking for, but man it's a fun bite when they smoke a bait like that.

Caught the first 2 frog fish of 2020 today. Kinda small though.

The weather was great, mid 70's and sunny; the fishing, not so much. Apparently everyone else thought it was a great day to be out on the water too lol.

This morning I was my first time back out since the Friday before Memorial day weekend. Caught 14 in a weird flurry between about 8am and 10am.  About half were in the 2-3lb range; here's a couple of them -- all fish were caught on a rage swimmer or senko worked through the emerging lily pads and other veg you see in the background:

Not a bass but my 5 y.o son caught his very first fish(pickerel) all by himself on an artificial bait - a grub rigged weedless on an owner twistlock using his dock demon!
