I get 3 personal days a year to use and they are a "use em or lose em" type deal so I always take a Friday off in November during the rut and 2 Fridays off in the Spring to fish. Well today was one of them and I was blessed with beautiful weather. Got on the water about 8:30 this morning and it was 34 degrees. Didn't hook up till about 10:15 and ended up catching a few. Nothing big, only 2 worth getting their picture taken. A 3.2 and a 3.8, both caught on a Spro Little John MD in Old Fire Tiger.

Well for the last month or so my fishing has resulted in only a dink here and there. Lucky to get one bite. But a recent warming trend has finally woken up the big girls, and they’re ready to eat...

Got some new rattle traps in spring colors and put them to work today, after I got off work. I can say that at least one works! Little football grabbed it around 10 feet on the bottom. Crappie tail sticking out of its throat and it still wanted the bluegill trap for desert! 3lb fish with a 5lb gut!

5.7 and a 5.2 in the dark! Both around 21”

Finally got to change it up a little and do a day of cold water fishing Thursday. Had plans to fish one of the trout lakes, it was an absolute bust. There was a terrible algae bloom and visibility was about foot and the water was surprisingly cold still. I stayed way longer than I should have to catch a dozen small bass, a few trout, a drum, and a wiper. Got back to the lake by my house around noon, I should have stayed by the house.

30 minutes of fishing I had a 15.5lb limit. Texted my wife and she wanted to come out with my youngest son since it was fairly nice out. Finn hasn't gotten the exposure to fishing that Lake had by the time he was 3, so I've got some making up to do. He did good cranking them in despite the howling winds though.

He's still not willing to hold them, but I did get him to start touching the fish and he thought that was pretty funny, so it's a start.

Ended the day with 4.5 hours on the lake and nearly 19 pounds on a 6th Sense Provoke and War Eagle finesse spinnerbait.

52* when I got off work at 0600 this morning. Walked in the door at 0615 and Lake was stumbling down the hallway. I'd already been thinking it, so I tossed out "Hey buddy, want to go fishing?" He smiled a sleepy grin and nodded his head, got permission from momma, on the water by 0700, he caught the first fish on his second cast with a float-n-fly. We ended up with 15 in the boat, the biggest a crawdad short of 4 pounds that engulfed my 6th Sense Provoke. Water was 39-41, had to barely move it and wait them out, no bites, they were just there when I moved it next time. Lots of other boats on the little puddle. Had a great time with my little buddy ?

@N Florida Mike, you guessed it! Smoky mountain national park and the cherokee national forest

I visited the Cherokee area for the first time back in October. Beautiful area down there, I didn’t want to leave! Fishing for trout while I was there, but I whooped on them so bad I got tired of them!
Had a couple rainy days while I was there and made a trip to see the dam at Fontana just because. Hoping to find a guide down that way next fall and chase after some lake monsters!

Made it out for an afternoon trip and got it absolutely handed to us for the first 4 hours with zero bites on a plethora of baits. I can't remember the last time we were skunked (you can almost always slump bust with a couple dink spots on bad days), and it almost seemed inevitable the multiyear skunkless streak was going to be over. Fortunately just as we were about to call it Pops came through with one of said dink spots.

As we came around a main lake point I noticed a mudline in the top of the water column that extended well off the bank, so I took off the shad colored TB crankbait I'd thrown earlier and changed it out for a red 5xd. After a couple hundred casts hauling nothing but water the xd came through on my 3rd cast.

And then a few casts later came another...

And then a 3 pounder to end my day...

Pops caught one last one for good measure as I was cleaning up before the ride back in. Heck of a 45 minutes before the darkness sent us off the water.

Had a wonderful early spring-like afternoon catching mostly smaller 12-14" bass and one close to 3lb. Caught this bonus on a ned rigged hula stickz.

Fished all afternoon. Windy and cool, day before the full moon. Mostly cloudy.

Jeff had 2 fish break his line but managed a 3 1/2 pounder for his best fish . He caught most of his on a Berkeley havoc beaver- style bait, kind of orange and crime color. We caught 3 in 5 minutes on a point on different spinnerbaits. We also got a double . I caught 2 that were 4 3/4 pounds, one on a 6 inch big bite stick bait in watermelon red, and one on a watermelon seed fluke. I caught most  of mine on those baits, and a few more on the speed worm and baby brush hog. We both lost big fish when the fish ran up into lay downs. Most of the fish were on the north ( shallower ) end of the lake. We ended up with 23. No dinks! Already planning our next trip to a lake we used to fish a lot in our 20s. Good times!

I tried to tell y’all that @Jermination knows how to catch bass....... I took him to the white bass hole and he catches a 5.25 lb smb almost 22”. And then a 18.5”! Plenty of white bass too. Even @Bluebasser86 chatterbait got in on the action 9BCC607D-CD60-40CE-B36B-A36FDC2AA2B2.jpegCDEC0370-8896-4EB7-8C73-ED63BB48E57D.jpeg

Cloudy skies, drizzle and colder temperatures shot my planned boat trip today, so walked a couple ponds instead and managed 31 bass, including a more seasoned citizen from one of those ponds. Everything on an old Husky Jerk (size 7, I believe).

Nothing huge, but I'm just happy catching some bass in early March in Ohio, the ponds were frozen about a week ago. I didn't have a red lipless, so I used the next best thing I had which was one with big red eyes.

With crazy early spring time conditions, decided to see if the warming water conditions of 57° to 59.1° pulled some fish up. Well, it didn’t quite work out the way I hoped for starting off with a couple of little bucks dropshotting up in the tules.

Made a run to a promising area before I called it a day.  If you’re only gonna catch a couple of fish, man was I happy when a decent one decides to eat. This 6.74lb girl ate my GYCB stick bait pitched up next to a hyacinth mat. If it’s not happening yet in your neck of the woods, hopefully it’s getting close...

About the same deal as last week. Buddy and I drove down to a little lake that's usually good early in the year, just to find out they'd apparently gotten way more rain than we had and the lake was way up and muddy. Tried for an hour but 5 dinks in the slightly clearer water we found and nothing in the muddy water (what a majority of the rest of the lake looked like), left us feeling pretty bleak about the day. Pulled the plug on that idea and hauled to a different little lake we'd talked about going to instead in the first place but decided on the other one. Should have gone there first. The water was up a little and fairly stained there too, but not as bad as the other one. A Booyah Covert and 6th Sense Provoke in Violet Panda did most of the damage.
