haggard Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Tried ice fishing for the first time this season. Three dink yellow perch last weekend but today finally got a nice smallie. 15 Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 1, 2020 Super User Posted March 1, 2020 Hadn't been out in weeks and finally had a window open. My home lake has a 145 boat ProAm going on (usually only 35-40 bass boats on a typical day this time of year), so I decided to hit up a smaller nearby lake. We've had spring like temps all week and I was hoping the big girls would be on the prowl with the new(ish) moon and willing to hit or chase a swimbait... no such luck but it's gotta be getting close. Only picked up 5 for the day but at least it was a no dinks day. Smallest fish of the day... and it was on the swimbait. 2nd biggest of the day... and it was on a Ned. Biggest of the day... also on a Ned. 17 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 1, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 1, 2020 How do you like the Arashi? I just got one a couple weeks ago but haven't tossed it yet, same color and everything. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 1, 2020 Super User Posted March 1, 2020 I like it for a midsized glide... nice s-pattern plus it seemed to respond well to a rod twitch, pause cadence. There's something about the Antidote's action I still like best for this size and price point, but the Arashi will definitely be staying in the rotation and getting some more time next time out. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Fished for a while and cleaned up a dead ash tree , a win/win ! Thank God for good friends & hungry fish 14 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 30-45 minutes. I took this picture in Lenoir city the other day, there’s a lot of huge fish that live in that area 2 Quote
kayaking_kev Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 That's not bad, I might have to look you up next time we are down there visiting my wife's parent's. They live on the Tennessee River in Lenoir City. Is that part of the river right there any good for fishing? 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Very good. Ott Defoe fished it a good part of the final day of the bass master classic last year 1 Quote
kayaking_kev Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I'm going to go see if I can find any footage of that, thanks! 1 Quote

Her parents live on Conkinnon Drive, the river looks pretty wide right there. Is the current pretty strong? Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 Yes that’s Loudon right below the dam. It’s way wider above the dam! Haha. The current is ripping right now but it’s been rainy recently. When it’s dry the current is off and on. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 2, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2020 52* when I got off work at 0600 this morning. Walked in the door at 0615 and Lake was stumbling down the hallway. I'd already been thinking it, so I tossed out "Hey buddy, want to go fishing?" He smiled a sleepy grin and nodded his head, got permission from momma, on the water by 0700, he caught the first fish on his second cast with a float-n-fly. We ended up with 15 in the boat, the biggest a crawdad short of 4 pounds that engulfed my 6th Sense Provoke. Water was 39-41, had to barely move it and wait them out, no bites, they were just there when I moved it next time. Lots of other boats on the little puddle. Had a great time with my little buddy ? 20 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted March 2, 2020 Super User Posted March 2, 2020 Picked up over a dozen from a small 4 acre lake yesterday from the bank; all about the same size and most on blade bait. Might get one or two more bank trips in this week, but warmer March weather has arrived (50s) and I’ve started boat prepping in expectation of finally getting out on open water this coming weekend. 15 Quote
M Bruns Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 First fish of 2020, caught swimming a ned. Been a long winter since we never got enough safe ice for ice fishing. Ice finally melted for the last time (hopefully) on Saturday, so the water is still pretty frigid. 12 Quote
Super User PhishLI Posted March 3, 2020 Super User Posted March 3, 2020 When I checked the 7 day forecast last week I was happy to see that Monday - Wednesday we'd be back in the 50's, but once again Saturday and Sunday would be harsh. 20's with high speed N winds on Sat and not much better on Sunday. More post cold front challenges. Uhg. Yesterday we had blustery S winds, so I hit the N cove right off the bat at 9pm. They wanted nothing moving fast or moving much at all, so I stuck to the bottom nice and slow. No bite and runs, just slurp and spits. I kept missing until I didn't. I had 2 shake off at my feet, but got one in finally. We moved up the shore to deeper water and threw some big wakes and glides. I didn't get a sniff, but my buddy hooked into a whopper on the Bull Shad slow sink. He almost got her in, but one jump and a tail slap and the big girl was bye bye. I only wish I was filming the scene. You could 've heard his cries of OMG a mile away. Rolling around on the ground, feet up in the air, arms outstretched. Whyyyyy! Priceless 12 Quote

A lot of big fish in/around the current at normal releases - one of my favorite places to fish. I had a 20+ lb striper take me about 3 miles downriver on a fly. I had a love/hate relationship with that fish. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 5, 2020 Global Moderator Posted March 5, 2020 It’s a great spot, I’ve got many a big large mouth smallmouth Striper and everything else right there Quote
Patrick Reif Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 No striped bass today but did snag a little guy 15 Quote
