First trip to Texas was a crazy one... Air temps in the 40s, and 75 degree water temps.  Stuck this one on a frog.  Not at all what I was expecting when I booked the trip, but it was a blast!

Caught my 3rd largest bass last night! 6.73lbs on the S Waver 168. I also lost one that was so big I couldn't move it when I set the hook, who knows what that one was.

Got out today 8-1 for what may be my last outing of the year depending on how the weather shakes out. Stayed mostly with the spinnerbait that's been good lately but only managed to find 3 that wanted to bite with one weighing 4-5

Got in about an hour and a half this afternoon. Our weather seems to be transitioning quickly towards winter. I'm usually still on some power patterns about now but have to roll with the punches. Caught several on ned rig, mostly smaller but this one made it worth the effort.

Been trying to learn Lake Lanier. There's been a lot of top water action but whopper plopper, swim baits, flukes weren't working. I located a large school of bait suspended 15-25 ft in 30-35 ft of water being chased by a few bass (counted maybe 5 on sonar). Couldn't get them to bite the drop shot but a 1/2 oz spoon worked (first time using spoons). Caught 4 total; the big spot weighed 5lb8oz.

 

Also went to the Chattahoochee River. The current is deceptive. Going 2.5 miles up river and then 2.5 back felt like 15 miles on a lake. Only caught dink trout. Apparently they stopped stocking 2 months ago but the brown trout naturally reproduce there. Almost flipped the kayak on a hidden rock. No photos of trout because taking a quick photo with current is tough and I heard you need to be very quick if you want the trout to survive.

Huge Spot! Don't encounter them where I live but have heard they're very hard fighters. Can only imagine how hard this one pulled.

Got the chance to take my dad fishing Monday. Started out a little slow but once we figured out they were on the shallower stuff in the wind, we laid it on them. Jerkbaits ruled the day. I was fishing a 6th Sense Provoke in Table Rock Pro, dad was tossing a MB 110 in Sour Apple. Caught mostly largemouth, a couple smallmouth, a couple drum, and a trout a piece. Water temps were already down in the high 40's ?

Looking that way here, too. No Indian Summer this year. I remember a cold start a few years back that led to a fairly mild Dec. Just don't want to get iced over. Back in the 70's I remember ice fishing on Thanksgiving once.

there was frost on my windows, when I hooked up the boat. it was supposed to be above 60 by this afternoon.

I only had a couple hours to fish, so i missed out on the warmer weather.

still had a decent morning. caught a few small bass and one 4.1 pounder on a jerkbait.

Recently got back from our semiannual father/son trip to Clear Lake. We had a great time, but it was the toughest fall trip we've had there in recent memory. Shad were EVERYWHERE and getting them interested in eating anything but the real stuff was tough.

 

First morning pulled up and only Aaron Britt beat us to the ramp. Retrospectively, considering his history on Clear Lake I wouldn't have minded seeing where he went.

Ended up catching 4 of these guys (on a 2.8)... just bumped the line nonstop as soon as you started the retrieve.

The S Waver strikes again, this time the 200 size caught me a 5.6 pounder. Lots of big followers, this is the only one I could trigger

Was planning to fish the last 3 hours of daylight but I helped my G. Daughter with something instead.

 Casted for 5 minutes and caught this one and a smaller friend on a watermelon red speed worm.

Only one was camera worthy today. Had one come unbuttoned at the boat that would have been, but that's fishing.

I'm still catching. Just trying to stay ahead of the final freeze. Although, as things chill down, I'm not making it easy on myself, choosing a dishpan water that's essentially a weedy flat. There are no deep spots, and precious little notable breaks in those weeds that carpet the bottom. But, I'm scoring a few. Guess where they are? Yes, in those precious little notable breaks in that carpet of weeds!   And they are fattening up before my eyes as fall progresses. And getting more and more beautiful as winter comes on. My latest catches I've yet to get to the photos of, but they are more beautiful yet, getting those winter golden-bronze backs, metallic yellow bellies, and heavy dark markings. Worth the effort.

 

That said, weather allowing, I think I'd be smart to shift to a water with a larger population, as we near ice-up. Just about there now.

Got out a couple times this weekend before we went into the deep freeze. This is the time of year when one of the lakes by our house likes to suddenly kick out wipers, and the weather was really nice (probably too nice), so I drug Lake out with me to try to see if we could find any. They were there, marking them all over on "the spot", but the water was still too warm to really get them biting like normal. I still managed to get one to bite, and Lake cranked him in.

 

My parents watched the boys Sunday, so my wife and I took advantage of the nearly 60 degree day and spent a rare day on the water together. The fish weren't extremely cooperative, but we caught enough to keep it interesting, and I caught a couple keeper walleye that I brought home for my parents as a thank you for letting us get out for the day.

We doubled to get the catching started for the day, then I followed up immediately with the first walleye of the day.

While I was busy catching dink largemouth off a point, my wife decided to show off and catch the only wiper off the day off the same point.

As our day was winding down and I was thinking I wasn't going to get anymore walleye to make it worth keeping, I found keeper #2 that officially made it worth getting my hands dirty.

A pair of fat, fall eyes. One on a Duo 85 jerkbait, one on a 6th Sense Provoke jerkbait.
