Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 4, 2019 Global Moderator Posted September 4, 2019 Had a great weekend with the family on Table Rock. We camped at the favorite camp ground of my wife and I (Aunt's Creek) and it was the first time tent camping for both our boys. They had a blast and everything went as well as we could have hoped for. They got to swim in the lake, which they loved but had us on edge the whole time. They both loved going fast in the boat. I brought a tub of red wigglers and they caught approximately a million bluegill and sunfish (give or take 1 or 2, I was too busy unhooking fish to keep exact count). They both also got to catch/reel in a couple bass in the boat also with Finn taking big fish honors with a really feisty smallmouth that was giving him the business for quite a while. I also got to sneak out for a few hours Sunday afternoon while everyone was napping and got on a hot deep water drop shot and jigging spoon bite on some deep trees. Not my strong suit, but I was making it work for me for a few hours pretty hot and heavy until I got the call that everyone was awake again and wanted to go back out in the boat, of course that bite was over by the time I got them back to that spot. I wrapped up the trip by catching the 3rd meanmouth I've ever caught. It was my last fish of the trip and really gave me a tough time getting it out of the deep trees on a drop shot. 19 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted September 4, 2019 Super User Posted September 4, 2019 After the Labor Day weekend, I figured it was finally time to get out on the water and do a little fishing. I wasn’t the only fisherman with that idea, and we only had to contend with a couple of yachts heading back to their berths signaling the end of their season. I got bit on pretty much everything I threw, breaking off a good one on a senko. I’ve had everything to throw a Neg rig in the boat for a couple of years and decided to break it out today and go for some numbers. I just find it ridiculous how that thing works, and coupled with light tackle it sure is fun! Here’s my best Ned fish of the day, a pretty little river bass. 13 Quote
boostr Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 Lost a few, but caught this little fatty, in the 4 hours I had to hit one of the Finger Lakes (Seneca Lake) my whole three day stay there. The weather really messed up my fishing schedule (especially our Cayuga day), but hey was still a great time. Not used to the crystal clear water, scared off alot of potential bites. 14 Quote

Caught myself a skinny one, and a toad this weekend on a slow day. I don't mind it when I get bites like those though. I even caught them both on a crankbait! When they start filling up the big Frabill Power Extend net like this chunk did, that's the kind I'm looking for! 11 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted September 10, 2019 Global Moderator Posted September 10, 2019 @Bluebasser86, we have an early goose season from sept 1 to sept 22. My buddies shot two of them while we were fishing and made pastrami out of them. Mmmmm. And nice green fish ya got there! 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 11, 2019 Global Moderator Posted September 11, 2019 Too nice to go home after school tonight, so after I picked him up, Lake and I got the boat real quick and hit the water for a couple hours. He almost got one his first cast, and pretty much caught them steady the whole time we were on the water. His casting was great tonight for a 5 year old. It's amazing the difference the nicer equipment I got him is making. 24 Quote

Glaucus Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Been sick for a long time and haven't gotten to fish a lot. A few of my best Smallies from the past few short trips I've been able to make. My lungs are slowly but surely getting better so hopefully I can make a full fall out of it. 15 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 14, 2019 Global Moderator Posted September 14, 2019 Doubled up on the fishing trips today . Went for 1.5 hours this morning by myself and it was a grind. My frog must have called this one's mom a bad name or something because it sounded like it was going to weigh 10 pounds the way it destroyed my frog through the thick grass. My first bite of the day 20 minutes in, I should have put it back on the trailer and gone home after that. Found a spot on a creek that I liked the looks of, and Lake loves playing in creeks just like I did when I was his age, so after I picked him up from school it didn't take any convincing to get him to want to go check it out. First spot was pretty nice. All really shallow, but we caught some little channel cats, a bass, several sunfish, and most surprising was several little wipers and white bass including 1 bigger white. I also almost sight fished a pretty big longnose gar with my Mepps. Lake desperately wants to catch a gar for some reason, he was pretty disappointed when it didn't hook up but really excited to see one up close, and I mean up close because we were wading and the sucker swam right next to us before I popped him. With our time running short, we walked back towards the truck but I wanted to poke around under the bridge and see if there was anything going on in the pool below it. There was a few big logs in the water, and I immediately lost a little largemouth, then had a small school of very aggressive longnose gar swim through, swatting at everything that moved, one even took a swipe at a floating leaf and Lake's bobber when he moved it. I got one to eat a piece of cutbait, but even after waiting at least 5 minutes to set the hook, it still didn't hook up. Lake was pretty devastated that we didn't catch the gar, but very next cast with the Mepps and a big fish was screaming drag and he was about in the creek. It was a tedious fight around and through the laydowns, but we finally got it landed. We'll be going back to check that spot out more for sure! And I swear he's wearing shorts, he just hiked them up for wading the creek for some reason. I didn't realize he looked like he wasn't wearing pants until after I got home and looked at the pictures ? 17 Quote
