Ksam1234 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Haven’t been out as much lately but still catching the big brown beauties 14 Quote
The Bassman Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 This girl looks like she's late to the party. I'd expect this a few weeks ago but it's late May and not yet spawned out. At least I presume she's full of eggs and not shad at this point in time. 14 Quote
lo n slo Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 we caught a dozen in the little johnny this morning and got off the water around 10:30. this nice spot came off brush in 20 fow. 13 Quote
Super User deep Posted May 26, 2019 Super User Posted May 26, 2019 Walking the banks for a bit in the AM, and caught 6 including a quick release. None were much bigger or smaller than this last one. 12 Quote
keagbassr Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 After working today and then hanging out with my brother, nephew and my mom for a bit before she heads home to Fla. In a couple days I decided I could squeeze in a quick bonus trip from 430 til 7. Only got 3 all on a spinnerbait with 1 good one that weighed 4 lbs. Even. 13 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 27, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 27, 2019 ^what he said! Those ones appear to have been back through the buffet line a few times too many. Reminds me of me....... 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted May 27, 2019 Super User Posted May 27, 2019 April & May 2019 have been decent; especially for plus sized brown bass. A-Jay 12 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 28, 2019 Global Moderator Posted May 28, 2019 We finally got a chance to get the G3 out on a different lake this morning. Things didn’t go quite as planned. The bass didn’t cooperate neither did the weather. We only got about 3 hours in and around 8:30 the wind picked up. By 9 we had enough of getting blown around. I got a dink on a spinnerbait and 6poundbass got one while we were waiting for the launch to free up. 9 Quote
Dorado Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Caught 5 of these guys today surface buzzing the Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Worm (Cali 420) for violent topwater strikes. Not huge, but the coolest way to catch bass off worms IMO. 19 Quote
Ksam1234 Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Not to get to sentimental but I wanna thank everyone for the good talks and positive encouragement on here. The pics I get to look at and all the info I get to read keeps my mind busy. This has probably been the worst year I have had in a long time personal life wise and it has taken a toll, the fishing is what is keeping me sane and all the helpful and nice people around here and on the water. That being said it’s been a great year for fish! Here are some more brown fish from Memorial Day 19 Quote
boostr Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 I had a memorable Memorial Day, me and the boy went to a newer lake. The second time for me and the first for him. A good 10 minute hike up to the lake, then we walked and fished the whole 4 mile circumfrence. I got to spend time with my boy, and caught the most bass than I ever did bank fishing. Caught six largies (could of been eight but lost 2), and my son caught one snot rocket. Four bucketmouths couldn't resist a wacky rigged green pumpkin copper purple flake Senko, then caught one on a homemade jig with a Blue Craw Rage Chunk and another on Texas rigged Blue Craw Rage Craw. These guys were all gentle biters, each one felt like a bluegill pecking at the bait. This is the the first and biggest. A nice 3 lbr, the rest were between 2 and 1 1/2 lbs: And this is my son's snot rocket: 17 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted May 28, 2019 Super User Posted May 28, 2019 Finally, first Smallmouth of the year! The river is still raging from all the rain we have had these last weeks. Combined with the snowmelt earlier this month this is as late a start to the season as I can remember. I took a trip to the local dam and did what my wife calls "fishing like your 16" I walked along the 4' wide wall until I got to a calm spot on the side of the dam. Dropped my worm 15' to the waters below and was able to get two Smallmouth Bass. I don't know what I would have done if I caught one over 2lbs. It was hard enough to reel these guys in and then pull them up to the top of the dam. They weren't monsters but still fun to catch and a cure for my Smallie skunk. 16 Quote
ShenandoahAngler Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 This was actually last weekend. It was caught on a black and blue Chatterbait with a Missile Baits swimbait trailer. I had been paddling around the lake for four hours without any luck, then at the last minute I landed this one at 3.76 pounds and 18 inches. This Saturday, I caught four fish, but they ranged from 11-13 inches and .70 to 1.4 pounds. Caught two on a weighted hook swimbait, one on the Chatterbait from the week before, and one on a 6th Sense jig with a Rage Craw trailer. I've rented the kayak three times now, and I think I am addicted. 17 Quote
superkamikazee Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Haven't able to make it out in a while, but finally got a chance to hit the water last weekend. Only out for 2 hrs, managed to land this 2.5lb'r. Pretty sure I missed the spawn, and this one was a late spawner or still hanging out near a bunch of empty beds. I also believe I caught this same fish 30 mins apart lol, same weight and torn fins. 14 Quote
teethmarks Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 fish were loving the jig today casting it out and hopping it back to the boat. then it got stuck under/between some rocks and i had to break it off. it was the only one i had with me in that color and as expected no other colors or combinations worked the rest of the day. luckily was able to work the drop shot for a few here and there but no where near the activity of the jig. the girl with the red on her tail was the biggest of the day at just under 3. 17 Quote
Johnbt Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 This is NOT my fish. I recently posted a couple of pics of 22" and 23" fish that I called skinny because they were only 5 and 6 pounds. To claim a Virginia citation/trophy largemouth a fish must be 8 pounds or 22". In the good old days it was 8 pounds or nothing. Although I'm leaving for Ocracoke Island NC to do a little surf fishing and hang out with my wife and friends, I still have bass fishing on my mind. Will the bullfrogs be huge when I get back? Will the dinks stop slapping my frog and annoying me? Will the copper/chartreuse spinnerbaits still work? Who knows. My buddy and bass mentor caught this one last summer on a frog and I've been thinking about it while I've been landing those skinny fish... Will he catch it again before I get back? How big is it this year? Is its momma even bigger? Stay tuned. 10 pounds, 26 inches, and a 7-inch frog leg sticking up in its throat. How many frogs did it eat before it ate the fake frog? 12 Quote
RealtreeByGod Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Caught an absolute monster as my first ever topwater bass. 12 5 Quote

CrankFate Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Not many bass where we were. Small catfish only. But we were looking for the giant carp. No luck. Kids had 20-25 cats. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 4, 2019 Global Moderator Posted June 4, 2019 Got a nice 19.5” smallmouth that fought like the devil. Once again captured with @Bluebasser86‘s bladed jig 13 Quote
