BigSkyBasser Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Spring has finally sprung here in Montana! And though cold, the fish are hungry! 22 Quote
WolfyBrandon Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 [April 29, 2019] Jeremy catches his first bass of 2019, and we both ended up catching 5 by the end of the day... Finally managed to catch a few on the Jackhammer... (Bass #4 & #5) WolfyBrandon 18 Quote
Super User deep Posted May 1, 2019 Super User Posted May 1, 2019 So the fishing (catching) has been pretty lackluster the last 3 or 4 trips as far as quality is concerned. Tried different locations, depths, speeds; caught probably 60+ fish in all, but nothing over 2#. Can't really get out to fish early or late, and I guess the bigger fish don't want to play in the middle of the day. (That even rhymes ha!). Cookie-cutter: The other species are keeping me company though, so it's not all that bad. I'm glad everything out here eats jerkbaits. Big crappie: Citation perch: 20 Quote
lo n slo Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 took the wife out in the little johnny this morning. we caught 36 spots and a single largemouth. she used her brand new Zebco Bullet to land the big fish of the day, this spot, pushing 3 lbs! good grief, wimmen folk ? 22 Quote
PAbasser927 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Only had about an hour to spend on the water last night. Initially I couldn’t decide whether it would be worth the hassle of packing everything up for such a short amount of time. Since the forecast is not so great this week I decided to go for it. This chunk certainly made it worthwhile! 16 Quote
jbmaine Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Around here real high water, over the ramp and onto the access road. Did manage to sneak the boat out though, and picked up the first fish of the year. A nice LM, 19 " just under 3lb. 21 Quote
Ksam1234 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 No brown bass today, the heavy high winds comming from the north stopped that , but we didn’t manage some nice green brutes. Along with this 6,10 oz beauty 23 Quote

Super User deep Posted May 3, 2019 Super User Posted May 3, 2019 Yep, today was a good day; until I ran out of rage tail baby menaces, and then the depthfinder battery ran out too, so I left them biting. Nothing really big, but I did catch a lot of fish, including some decent ones. 23 Quote
Ksam1234 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 That is the worst case of bass thumb I have ever seen. I had a 72 fish day once and it’s wasn’t even that bad. Congrats !! Hah 2 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Managed one more 17 inches yesterday (Friday) at sleepy hollow. This Time on a green pumpkin ned rig on a near shore drop off. I started this year with 3 main goals 1 obviously get my avg size up. 2 stop being a fair weather fisherman. 3 keep learning. I almost called it quits an hour into but, pushed on for another 3 hrs so far I have been able to do all 3 of the goals I have set. Friday was a down right dreadful day on lake Ovid. High was supposed to 56 with light and variable wind and partly sunny. It was cloudy and the Temp only reached 47 degrees and with a constant 12-15 mph wind ( which blows my 14 tin boat around quite a bit). I’ve only been out three times in the last month mainly due to weather on days I could get out. However, that is three times more I’ve ever been out this early in the season in previous years. Years past I would wait for perfect sunny conditions. This year I’m pushing myself to get out there in all weather ( within reason). So far it has paid off. My avg this year is 17-18 inches when last year I was in the 14-15 in range. I just need to get my numbers up. 17 Quote
