Super User Swamp Girl Posted June 25, 2024 Super User Posted June 25, 2024 @PhishLI I've been wanting to toss a fluke all year. 'Cause of you, I'm rigging one for this afternoon's fishing trip. FWIW, I know the gif looks like a Muppet, but it's not. That's actually me celebrating your catch. Was your brother with you? That's sure a pretty pond. 1 Quote
IcatchDinks Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Got skunked for the first time in a long time this morning. The first hour was dark and overcast with lots of lightening and crazy thunder. And then the rain hit and I had to run for cover. It was a really weird and ominous atmosphere pre rain. Odd, dim light that made me feel like I was going blind. I also went to the river for an hour yesterday evening and tried to catch some Smallies. But the river is blown out from all the rain, and the only action I could get was a kind of fish I am currently being bullied about. 😄 11 8 1 Quote

I sat for an hour on the shore waiting for the lightning to pass. When the lightning started, the bass stopped. @gimruis better live a good life or when it's over, he'll find himself with a tacklebox full of Whopper Ploppers at a lake full of only rock bass. 3 Quote

Then I had half of mile of paddling west and the wind and rain shifted to still be in my face. 5 minutes ago, gimruis said: So not only did you only catch a loser, but you also posted it in the wrong thread. thediscochef Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Will hopefully be fishing Lake Meredith sometime in the next few days, one of the very few water bodies in Texas with a sustained Walleye population. Hopefully the work days are short enough to make it happen. The banks of that lake are basically cliffs so I will likely be relegated to the marina and boat ramps. Still, there are nice fish that hang out on those areas at most Texas reservoirs. It's been tough fishing for a while now. I miss the summer night bite at roberts. Sunday I fished Texoma and also a lake in central Texas and caught a total of three stripers. I blame the barometer - while it was sitting right around 30 in/hg, there was little more than 0.2in of change in a three day span. Most of the time in those conditions I find that it's almost exclusively a nighttime bite. It's just how it is right now, I expect to be back to fishing normally in about 6 weeks but in the meantime I'm just not gonna be fishing much. Probably a good time to work on flipping a jig with more accuracy in the yard or something. For now I live vicariously through y'all 2 Quote

No more melatonin for me! Figured I'd take advantage of the adrenaline rush and buzzed up for some swings 1 Quote

The Baron Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Hey… how to y’all post so many photos? I get capped at 1mb and have to shrink my photos to be pretty grainy. 🤷🏼♂️ Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted June 25, 2024 Super User Posted June 25, 2024 @The Baron: I just fiddle with the numbers until I get the file between 40 and 100 kb. Quote

There's a drop-down menu that appears which allows for sizing all the photos in one shot before you send the photos. I then save the sent photos to documents on my laptop, then upload them here. I assume you could do that on your phone, but I prefer to use the properties function on my laptop to strip all info from each photo. 1 Quote
IcatchDinks Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 @The Baron I use a third party images hosting site. Postimages.org is what I use. Then I use the link from that site and paste it into the "insert image from URL" option in the "Other Media" tab. 2 Quote

Super User T-Billy Posted June 25, 2024 Super User Posted June 25, 2024 I had another solid predawn excursion. I got started about 02:00 and put a couple dozen-ish in the boat by first light around 05:00. Then added another dozen or so with the flippin stick. Best of the trip was this 4.11#. I had three others that were within a bluegill or two of 3#. Lots of 12-16 inchers. Y'all think she wanted that chatterbait? Couldn't get any skis to cooperate. I raised three, but no takers. Back to the grind tomorrow, won't get to fish again until next Sunday night. Boooooo!!! 19 Quote
BluegillsTightlines Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Went fishing yesterday morning before it got so dang blasted hot and caught a decent handful of bluegill and a couple shellcracker like this one. The bluegill were up at the lakefront dock, caught the shellcracker on an island sticking out from the bank. Then went down another turn down below a large rock, where I noticed a bass giving some bream absolute heck in the weeds, so I decided to bait up for a 3-4 inch bluegill(not sure how people here feel about that, but it's 100% legal here according to the game warden) and use it to see if I could coax thst bass out. And almost immediately it began pursuit of thst bluegill and had bad intentions for it-- absolutely hammered it, I saw the wake trail it left as it pursued my bluegill. It was a very enjoyable morning yesterday. That Daiwa Triforce-Z 153iV is a baitcaster my dad bought for me 25 years ago when I was in middle school. I had been wanting a baitcaster and he said if I did well enough on my report card that year, he would do it, as he believes good work should always be recognized. So he placed $5 per B $10 per A, and being a math major, he placed $15 bucks on As in math. I ended up with $155 in all and we went to Bass Pro and I got it. I am happy to be catching bass on it and even thouhh the reel handle shows some paint chipping, it still works wonderfully. 16 Quote

Fried Lemons Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Green fish are finally starting to bite again. Got 5 all on a jig fished in wood 8-12’ deep. Biggest of the day went 4.7lbs. Earlier on I dumped one around 6 on a glide. I couldn’t stop her jumping and on the second jump out flew the bait. 24 Quote
