Nice ones, Mr. Fowler! Did you get the heeby-jeebies?

Well I had to walk through waist high grass to get to the first spot and I spooked a deer that went crashing through the undergrowth and that about made my heart stop. But for a dyed in the wool city boy I think I did alright alone in the woods at night 😂

You fished for 4.5 hours in the darkest night, so you did great.

On my way home from fishing this morning, I had a bear mama and cub cross the road in front of me. That's the way to see a mama bear, inside a steel box!

Agree, I don’t think I’d bank fish at night anywhere where I wasn’t at the top of the food chain 😂

Thanks man.  All of those fish are from this spring.  That first smallie is my PB smallie to date.  Didn't get a weight, but what a fun fish to catch.  I am a big dude, 6'3" for size reference.  It ate a 2.5" black/blue tube.

Oh, I can see it's a big bass. Thick. I haven't caught one that big for many, many years. I also like the range of your photo compositions. You have a good eye for that.

Got on the water early and got off before the heat wave could damage brain cells.

My cousin caught a few nice ones on a chatterbait.

I could only manage small ones on a Bass assassin in grass.

Blue bird skies, water temp 81*.

From a dyed in the wool country boy now living in the city, that sounds about par for the course. And I promise, the country is way more chill at night than the city is. Being out after dark in the city makes me super jumpy. 😬

TVA threw us a bone and shut the water off one area. Took my shallow water boat out and got some SMB. Saw a bunch of deer as well (first pic ) large.IMG_6841.jpeglarge.IMG_6843.jpeglarge.IMG_6845.jpeglarge.IMG_2745.jpeglarge.IMG_2744.jpeglarge.IMG_6846.jpeg

Caught a couple nice ones this morning. The first one I caught woulda been a new PB before yesterday. It was just a bit over 18", which ties a fish I caught last year, but this morning's was far healthier, and heavier. I didn't bother weighing it. 21.75" is the new mark to beat.

It was a sick eat, too. I had reeled an EFH gold Banshee (a simple paddletail bait) all the way back to the bank, when this fella came zooming in from the weed edge and hammered it in about 4 inches of water. His back was sticking out of the water when he ate it. I was able to set the hook and land him all in one pull. 😄

The second bass was a bit over 15 inches. When I made my username, I didn't consider that one day it might not be accurate. 😆

@IcatchDinks: You and I are figuring how to catch these green bass, huh? Of course, I have the advantage of less fished water, but we're both catching more and bigger bass and it's cool to have a fellow student among so many master anglers.

Still picking up a few bass in this heat from the local res, along with some slab crappie. Water temps 86-87 deg. Just about done with the boat umbrella addition to my rig - a pretty popular and common sight down here.

Heckuva bass angler and a HECKUVA crappie angler. The ones you've caught just this year would make many crappie anglers' careers.

Boat umbrellas are not used here at all....except me. Post a picture when you get yours set up. Here are a couple of mine. First is my Duck River Boat. Then My larger rig. Last picture is a triple canopy. Best 200.00 I've ever spent.

Will do - don't have a console or bench seat to attach to, so making a floor mount. Hoping to get the umbrella today if I can find the right sized one locally.

I had today off for Juneteenth but with the heat and a fried throwing a pool party later I decided to make a night of it. First time in a while I’ve pulled an all nighter but it was worth it. Launched at 1130 and came off at 530. The first 3 hours were great. I had hoped for a buzzbait bite and got it. First cast while still tied at the dock had one eat it but I lost it after a couple head shakes. Proceeded to go for a lap around the lake and caught a dozen, lost one more, and had a few more blowups that didn’t get a hook. When the moon set I had a couple more nip at it but wouldn’t take. I knew the buzzbait was done and the fish might be also. Fished another half lap with a range of things to have one more bite in 3 hours. All in, 13 bass but a limit of 5 bass all over 3#. Only one dink also.

Katie, I've finally stopped laughing enough to write back. That was funny and I owe you one! Yes I try to keep busy, but I can do some loafin' too!
