Alarm clock set for 3:30 a.m. Going to the closest thing to a lake that I fish. It's got homes, docks, and other anglers, but it's still full of fish. First trip this year to it and I'm excited. Hopefully not too excited to sleep! good luck. i don’t know if im staying semi local or heading 2 hrs north to west branch yet or not. makes for a long day. i was up at 6:45 left at 7:45 and just got home 9 pm. 1 1 Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 13, 2024 Super User Posted May 13, 2024 Didn't cross paths with any big girls but sure enjoyed catching quite a few males. Dedicated some time to "dice" for the first time and have to say they liked it. Bad news is it wasn't just bass. 😆 22 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 13, 2024 Global Moderator Posted May 13, 2024 Did a little fishing Mother's Day morning and caught a bunch of fish, but never found any big ones. That Gamakatsu Nano Alpha hook was still sticking all of them so good. Pretty sure I caught my first topwater fish of the year also. Had a new addition to the kayak that I was playing with, that was the main reason for the trip. 21 Quote
Pat Brown Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Went out yesterday for mother's day and had a lot of fun. Found them in wood on points. Missed way more than we caught but we caught and they were biting. I did something I haven't done in a long time. I caught a 4 lber on a spinning rod with a weightless senko.....and BOY was she fat for how short she was. Jake got a nice one on the baby brush hog. And even a bonus crappie on the last cast of the day with a Jerkbait! Went to the park before work today and threw the frog around. Missed a few takers and then found a sun warmed channel swing bank and paralleled it and this monster slurped it. Haven't had to get the scale out in a while but this one earned it. She jumped and thrashed and then finally submitted to my 40 lb braid. Unbelievable how spawned out this girl is. Giant gaping maw of a mouth and huge wide shoulders. Seems she just started feeding today! Probably a 9 lber all day a week or two back. 23 Quote

Great fish and you and Jake are both amazing anglers, I always enjoy seeing what you guys have been up to. 1 Quote

Pat Brown Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 I'm outta reactions for the day and y'all are too funny and kind. Glad to be a part of this cool group of great anglers - happy to share the seasonal splendor with you fellow bass heads. 😌😌😌 6 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted May 13, 2024 Super User Posted May 13, 2024 I run out of reactions too from time to time, Pat, and I feel badly when I can't encourage or celebrate a fellow angler. 1 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted May 13, 2024 Super User Posted May 13, 2024 Rather expensive weekend. I lost 3 spinnerbaits, 2 texas rigs, and a jig in total I don’t even know how three spinnerbait in a single weekend is possible but here we are 3 1 3 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted May 13, 2024 Super User Posted May 13, 2024 Tried a friends pond on the way home from work and got 5 on senkos and Bandito bugs…all around pad clumps. Nothing big , but it beats a skunk… 19 Quote
Pat Brown Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Evening trip with Jake after work and we got us a baby - brush - HAWG! Not a bad day! 😎🎣👍🏼🤠 20 Quote
Jmurphy87 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Well I caught 8 fish after work this morning after my last 13 hour shift for a minute hopefully. All came on a weightless general and stink o stick. Nothing huge but still fish. 16 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted May 14, 2024 Super User Posted May 14, 2024 Those are nice ones, Murph, especially the first and third. If you want to double their size, simply long-arm them. 1 Quote

Nope no long arming from me, make them look as small as possible is my moto don’t exaggerate your size stay humble and proud. They were chomping the stick bait today. This is a new to me body of water. Maple lake in paw paw, seems different and strange. Once again this place gets pounded daily. But hey it’s just down the road from my job. I have been trying to get a bite on the stink o gill, but that’s going to take a bigger fish due to it being a larger presentation. I don’t know if I should keep fishing there or try a new place. I might try some tubes and see if I can best my stick bait numbers. A beaver or creature bait is my confidence lure oddly enough. 2 Quote
keagbassr Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Got out today 7-12. Bit of a rough start as early on I was sitting with 3 fish boated and 5 hooked and lost. Managed to fight back a little and ended the day with 9 caught 7 lost. Fortunately none lost were bigs. Did land 2 good ones that weighed 4-7and 3-8 both on a buzzbait. 19 Quote
Fishlegs Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 Finally got to fish a little. Caught 4 little ones, all about this size. All were caught on the same color brush hog. Brush hog - 4, every other lure - 0. The good news is that it broke a three trip skunk streak. 18 Quote

Yep, Bob, like you, Murph (@Jmurphy87) is a hardworking family man, which matters exactly a flooflillion times more than catching bass. Plus, he, like @Pat Brown, catches bass while standing on concrete and dodging errant frisbees. 1 1 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted May 15, 2024 Super User Posted May 15, 2024 Not much work today. I fought it all day , but finally had to get a few casts in. This healthy fish fell prey to the Bama craw yum dinger. 18 Quote
