I fish over a fair amount of submerged roots and stumps and the LV500 seems to really excel at jigging off the bottom, which I do sometimes but prefer a yo-yo retrieve a bit higher in the water column. I will let you know how they do for me once I get them. I want them specifically because they seem to be a good option in the 3/4oz range, and I want a heavier lipless to go down deeper. Could be in really deep water, and I’m not going to yo-yo much, if I had to guess I also have it in mind to try a 1oz Magnum Rat-L-Trap 3 Quote

Also a 3/4 oz lipless that I've been liking a lot. 1 1 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted August 16, 2023 Super User Posted August 16, 2023 High pressure system rolled right over my location today bringing sunny blue skies, and mostly calm conditions with the occasional variable breeze at 5-7 mph. The lake has been nuked, so cover is sparse and the water is clearing from all the recent rain. Needless to say, I grabbed the respooled finesse rig and tied on the “skunk buster” (Ned) ? Got 3 little guys pretty quick, moving me beyond any curse, then proceeded to catch 22 total. Bass were in small clusters, so when you caught one, you often could catch several more in the same little area. 20 Quote
Dominat0r Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Streak is on! I had to wait till teh rain stopped, which didnt happen till a little while ago. However, got out during the break and it started to pour right before I got this guy. I am glad it had a break to get my fish for the day. 15 Quote

IcatchDinks Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Had a nice relaxing couple hours fishing my local puddles today. Caught two nice fish, one small fellow that had been treated pretty roughly by some previous angler, and lost a really good one on a thrashing jump. The one I lost was really interesting. I felt a bump, and then saw my line in the water go really slack. I reeled down hard, and realized he was swimming at me about as fast I could reel. I kept cranking, he kept swimming, then, as he got to the bank, he half jumped/half thrashed in the shallow water, and slipped the hook. It was a pretty good sized fish. Probably about 17-18 inches if I had to guess. But I never really fought him the whole way in, and somehow it didn't hurt as bad when I lost him. Then I found somebody's spinnerbait in a tree. And found just what kind of a monster the previous owner was: there were multiple knots on the lure!? This guy just cuts the lure off and then reties without cleaning the first knot off. I don't even know the man and I hate him with a passion. ? 12 Quote

thediscochef Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 I caught this same fish Monday. Got someone else's senko+flipping hook safely out of her gullet but I don't think this Bass is long for this world. Only bite today. I snapped off the c rig lizard I was using on the next cast, the weight snapped back on me and killed the tip guide on my rod. It was only an Aird-x but it still hurts and I won't be able to replace it for a while. I'm averaging about 20 bucks in wrecked gear per day this week no matter what I use. Universe better be prepping me for a new PB cause I'm gonna lose what's left of my hair if this continues lol 12 1 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted August 17, 2023 Super User Posted August 17, 2023 I went bog bassin' again. I lead with a heron and then another heron, the second one on a lodge. Then two pretty shoreline pics. Then two pics each of a 17.75-incher, a 19.25-incher, and a 20.25 incher. Sorry for the low quality of the 19.25-incher. My headlamp died and I had to process her in the dark. It was hard fishing this morning. It's cool today and that clamped their mouths and the wind kicked up, which had me paddling to position myself as much as I managed to fish. Plus, when it's windy, I can't see the weeds and thus cast into them more, so this morning's trip was mostly paddling and removing weeds from my lures. Still, any morning with two four-pounders (I caught 11 total.) is a good morning. Heck, any morning with a heron on a lodge is a great morning. 26 Quote

Dominat0r Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 3 more days to go for my goal. Streak lives on. Weather is awful still, bit of rain and then blazing heat. I got out right after work and got my fish for the day. Got him on a zoom speed worm (6" junebug). I had a nice bite on my carolina rig, but it did not take the whole thing it its mouth it seemed. I set the hook to the side, but may have tug it out of his mouth. No worries, Ill catch you later buddy ? 16 Quote
keagbassr Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Fished this morning 7-11, caught 8 bass, 2 on a buzzbait and 6 on a double wide beaver with the 1st of those 6 the best of the day weighing 3-12 18 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted August 18, 2023 Super User Posted August 18, 2023 @keagbassr: You always catch beautiful bass. I love how dark your fish in the photo is. Do you fish rivers, lakes, or both? 1 Quote
keagbassr Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 @ol'crickety I fish mostly old dammed up mill ponds and small lakes. I do occasionally venture east to my old stompin' grounds to fish the river Charles. 2 1 Quote
Texas Flood Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Got this girl yesterday. She put up a decent fight. I didnt have my scale but I'd say she was around 6-7 pounds. 2 9 Quote
thediscochef Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Got into some today. No giants but one decent fish. 6 tiny dinks including a lil meanmouth. I hate ned rigging but if it's the catcher then it's the catcher. The bigger one smoked it as I was burning it back to shore 13 Quote
IcatchDinks Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 @thediscochef I like ned rigging but almost never use it because I catch literally everything except fish when I try to use it. Rocks, branches, and whatnot in the river, and every piece of slime and weed when fishing the ponds. There's no denying it catches fish, though. 3 1 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted August 18, 2023 Super User Posted August 18, 2023 Another morning trip, 6:30-10:30. ~60-acre natural lake, narrow shallows with lily pads & reeds, some docks, fast-dropping slope to deep water all the way around. But the shallow cover in this lake is mostly a trap, and rarely holds anything bigger than 11 or 12 inches outside of spring. The better bass are a few feet out along the drop, and about 10-12 feet deeper. A jigworm ("Perch" colored Mister Twister Phenom) and a GYCB hula grub were effective at coaxing up these three today (3.36#, 2.95#, 2.15# respectively), just above a 14' thermocline: ...along with around two-dozen 10-11 inchers (I lost track of exactly how many), which in the end couldn't really be avoided. 19 Quote
